I suppose that will depend on what the voters are expecting from their councillors and their council. If councils don't deliver positive observable results then the votes lent to the newly resurgent parties would quickly evaporate - in my view.

Some MPs were actually prepared to name the large, grey, trunk-bearing mammal in the room and point out that the Prime Minister was almost certainly lying. To do so is considered un-parliamentary behaviour and so risks a chucking-out even if it is akin to looking up and commenting that what’s above you is a colour somewhere between Cyan and Magenta. Lee Anderson said the PM ‘couldn’t lie straight in bed’, which he was made to retract before being turfed out of the Commons.

Braver was Zarah Sultana, who repeated the claim that the PM was lying, to an incandescent Hoyle, who not only chucked her out but suspended her from the House, meaning five days’ banishment without pay. Quite the punishment for stating the obvious.

One wonders what she and Lee chatted about in the sin bin but then Starmer’s shamelessness has made some odd bedfellows. Corbynistas nodded along to Mrs Badenoch, the SNP cheered DUP questions, the Tories were in total thrall to Diane Abbott. Maybe the real friends were the ones we made along the way? It was like an unlikely Disney buddy film, all brought together by contempt for one man’s naked shamelessness. Sweet, eh?

That corner of the chamber, with Corbyn and the Gaza MPs in the back row and the Reform MPs sitting in front of them, seems to be the House's naughty step. There's a lot of banter goes on. Ideology aside, they seem to get on reasonably well on a personal basis.

I've seen Rosie Duffield sitting there. Also Tim Farron, who seems to find it much more fun than hanging out with the Lib Dems.

I rarely see Sultana in the chamber. When she speaks, she often seems to come in late in a debate when there aren't many MPs around. I would feel sorry for her, but working with others is a key skill in politics and she doesn't have it.

Was watching bits of the Starmer statement this afternoon. Lee Anderson had already been kicked out for calling Starmer a liar. By this evening Sultana had managed it too but seems to be getting the headlines and plaudits from Reform types on Twitter.

I did see she wasn't sitting close to Corbyn who'd tried to ask forensic questions from the backbenches

It turns out Unite (who cut their Labour party subs by 40%) have been holding secret talks with Reform about ending the Birmingham bin strikes. You know, the pivotal cause for Your Party that got Sultana on the picket line pledging solidarity

As noted in one of the replies, the whole impetus of the dispute is an equal pay claim that, if the union won and kept the specific role in place, would leave the council in breach potentially of the equality act. Reform have said they want to scrap the act, if I remember

After all the endless faff about creating the most complex party constitution imaginable (Ben Habib doesn't know he's born), I suppose it was inevitable that someone would sue to force Corbzy to rerun the election under a different system that you need to be a mathematician to understand.

And then they wonder why they can't get normies to vote for them.

A disgruntled candidate for Your Party CEC is now threatening to sue them for breach on contract (? Is that even possible? Iirc party of them are a private company) and has contacted the Good Law Project to begin proceedings.
