From the age of fourteen, Fiona Goddard was the victim of sustained abuse by grooming gangs while living in a children's home in Bradford. In 2019, nine men were convicted of sexual offences against her and jailed.

This week, Fiona was told that her applications for compensation had been rejected by Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police.

Jesus Christ! It's so dreadful it's beyond swearing which is my usual response to most things (sorry to any Christians on here)
They had to wear PPE !!! And what was the ruddy care home doing? Theyre supposed to be trained to look after vulnerable children, not pander to the attitude that they were actively seeking sex.
Every single adult involved in this is accountable.

For transparency: Fiona read in the transcripts that when she was finally found by police and brought back to the care home, professionals had to don PPE. They wore protective clothing because she was a child covered in blood and semen after days of mass rape. The care workers knew exactly what she had been through. The care home knew. They saw the evidence with their own eyes

They protected themselves, but they failed to protect her. That is the question no one wants to answer. Why could adults be safeguarded instantly, yet a child was left exposed, repeatedly abused, and returned to the same system that failed her? This was not ignorance or confusion. It was a choice. A system more focused on protecting itself than protecting a child.

My speech today in bradford council. They have voted to take my request to the next level. Hopefully the councillors will now see how important this is and take the lead in pushing for bradford to have a full inquiry as part of the national inquiry. Susan hinchcliffe said this has already been done, but it hasn't. They have said they are willing if the inquiry wants to. Like I said in my speech we do not want willingness. We want action and leadership.
