They can’t qualify as asylum seekers. The refugee convention is very strict. Not even women fleeing organised crime mobs that will human traffick them to be a sex slave or men fleeing the same over being turned into a drug farmer or mule qualify because the persecution and danger has to come from a government entity.

Yes the climate in the US is swinging away from transgender perks, but they aren’t nearly as impacted as all the women and girls currently being denied contraception and terminations. Women have died directly due to these new government restrictions.

They can emigrate at their own cost and apply for skilled worker visas like anyone else seeking a better life.

It’s bloody disgusting what’s happening to the rights of women and girls in the US.

Sweetheart.

Society is still sexist. It sucks, but there you are. Look at the crime stats, Read the realtionships board. Fucking hell, look at the first page of pornhub. Too many men feel their interest entitles them to women's attention and their desire entitles them to women's bodies. As far as they are concerned, our presence in socety is all about what they want of us. what we may or may not want for ourselves is inconsequential.

Female-only spaces (physical, cultural and social) give us a break from all that male demand. They are important to women.

Treating men and women the same only works if you start from an equal place in the first place. If you start from a sexist society and treat us the same, all you do is perpetuate it.

You're making a lot of generalizations on men. Believe it or not, there are going to be many men not interested in you or even thinking about you. This applies even more so if we're talking about feminine trans women who are attracted to men. What does pornhub have to do with any of that?

Heggettypeg · 24/01/2026 23:41

It makes absolute sense, because being quite clear that no men are allowed in strengthens women's position in several ways:

If they see a man going into the Ladies', they know he's up to no good and can phone the police, round up some help or at the very least warn other women not to go in.

If there are several women in the toilets when he comes in, they can challenge him and/or fetch help, or get themselves out, before he does anything. Even a lone woman will know at once that he's up to no good and so may have a better chance of escaping in time.

Any member of the public who is asked for help knows that the woman who asks is in the right and that they are in the right to help her.

He has no excuse to go in and hang around until he catches a woman or girl on her own, which makes it harder for him.

If a woman or girl is caught alone and molested, unless he actually murders her, she is in a much stronger position to be believed, because he wouldn't have been in there at all unless he was up to no good.

"If they see a man going into the Ladies', they know he's up to no good and can phone the police, round up some help or at the very least warn other women not to go in." Except this is factually untrue. Being up to no good requires intent and action. If a man is in the toilets and waits for his daughter to pee and leave, what is the crime? If a trans woman goes into the toilet, uses it and leaves, what is the crime? That is the issue here, you think it's okay to accuse people of being criminals (predators it seems) purely based on your disapproval of where they are, not on what they do. Which means you don't care about facts. Some gay men have been in the women's toilets with female friends too. Where is the criminal intent?

If a man happens to do something wrong, then that's on him. Not other men. The same would apply if a man did something predatory in the men's room. The criminal activity is the problem. Not what room people are in.

I haven't seen any evidence of epidemics of sexual assault in toilets.

There has to be an "epidemic" before you think safeguarding is worthwhile does there?
Tell us, what is your threshold number of sexual assaults at which you'll deign to register any concern?

I specified public toilets, but again, given that men and women share nude spaces, I don't really agree with your sentiment, and there are many laws I don't agree with in the first place. You're entitled to feel however you want and be uncomfortable with what you want, but the argument that men commit more sexual crimes is not a sensible argument against men and women being in the same room or even being nude in the same public spaces. These are choices all people are free to make.

A man entering the women's restroom isn't making anyone unsafe if he's not committing a crime. They aren't security zones, so any criminal can already go in if they wanted to. It makes no sense.

What's your thoughts about the American man trying to claim asylum in the Netherlands?

I think they should have probably just moved instead of seeking asylum.

For the important reason of safety, privacy and dignity. UK law accepts that single sex exemptions are acceptable when people are in a state of undress.

Men commit 98% of all sexual offences which is a good reason to jeep them away from women in a state of undress.

I admit I have no idea what the toilets arrangements are in the Netherland asylum camps.

Back to the topic of the thread. There was a US man who tried to claim asylum in Canada and his claim was rejected

Thank you.

It’s not worth engaging with pigeons and seals on here. I don’t even read their posts any more tbh.

Not for any highly important reason. I don't advocate for anyone to insist they have to use one room over the other, but the fiasco that's been made over it isn't justified, and definitely not to the point where it's okay to accuse people of being predators.

@Skywinnlots of women cannot share a bathroom with men because their religion doesn’t allow it. Do those women not count?

I don’t want to share with men, single sex bathrooms/spaces exist, so the easiest and best way forward is to continue.
And a man in those spaces makes me feel unsafe. So therefore it’s not safe.

Feeling unsafe and being unsafe are two different things.

Restroom. You're from the US. That explains a lot. We don't call them that over here. You are presumably also very young and don't remember how things were before the gender madness took hold. In the not very distant past a man entering a woman's lavatory or changing room would have stood out like a sore thumb and anybody seeing this would have raised the alarm. 'Good men stay out so bad men stand out' sums it up. This had a deterrent effect. Nowadays it doesn't because all the man has to do is to say 'I identify as a woman' and he has a free pass in many places. Women know if they complain they might end up being called bigots, publicly humiliated and getting into trouble with the law and/or their employer, professional body, gym, club etc, so a great many decide to keep stum. Girls faced with the prospect of having to use all-gender WCs at school just don't go to the loo or stay at home. Religious women who no longer have single-sex facilities to use as required by their religion are excluded further from society. Women and girls who've experienced sexual abuse are also self-excluding from these mixed sex spaces and services.

And let's not forget that this isn't all about physical and psychological safety. There's also privacy and decency. Women and girls don't want males around when they are vulnerable from being in a state of undress. Men and boys don't want females around in similar circumstances.

"Men and boys don't want females around in similar circumstances." Many boys don't want to change in front of other boys either, or girls with other girls. And no one has to. I also avoid public restrooms and non cubicle changing rooms. That's my choice. Also, I specified public toilets, where ideally people shouldn't be nude to begin with. Mixed sex spaces actually predate sex segregated rooms. Men and women go to the same nude beaches and nude villages all the time. It's fine to be uncomfortable with it personally, but it's not inherently wrong for other people to do it, and it's not justification to tell other people what public places they can't go to. Many trans women are also attracted to men, so it's false to just assume their using the women's toilets must be have some evil intent. Women and men also have used each other's restroom, under some circumstances. Some men have awkwardly accompanied their young daughters into the women's room, and women also go into the men's room to skip queues.
