"Men and boys don't want females around in similar circumstances." Many boys don't want to change in front of other boys either, or girls with other girls. And no one has to. I also avoid public restrooms and non cubicle changing rooms. That's my choice. Also, I specified public toilets, where ideally people shouldn't be nude to begin with. Mixed sex spaces actually predate sex segregated rooms. Men and women go to the same nude beaches and nude villages all the time. It's fine to be uncomfortable with it personally, but it's not inherently wrong for other people to do it, and it's not justification to tell other people what public places they can't go to. Many trans women are also attracted to men, so it's false to just assume their using the women's toilets must be have some evil intent. Women and men also have used each other's restroom, under some circumstances. Some men have awkwardly accompanied their young daughters into the women's room, and women also go into the men's room to skip queues.

WRONG! Google the 'Urinary Leash'. Before female only toilets, women could not participate in society.

A man entering the women's restroom isn't making anyone unsafe if he's not committing a crime. They aren't security zones, so any criminal can already go in if they wanted to. It makes no sense.

Edited

Way to show you're not a rape survivor. Any male in a space where women are vulnerable and are specifically designed for females only. makes that space unsafe. Why do you think we have male only and female only toilets then?

Women flee to the ladies to escape a man. We cry. Seek help. We miscarry there. We change out at the sinks to go clubbing. We wash blood-stained underwear at the sink, and baby sick off our blouses. We are in a semi state of dress if not momentarily fully naked. We don't want MALES there, understand!

I haven't seen any evidence of epidemics of sexual assault in toilets.

  1. you aren't looking very hard then
  2. even there isn't evidence (there is) absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence is a very basic known scientific concept.

I specified public toilets, but again, given that men and women share nude spaces, I don't really agree with your sentiment, and there are many laws I don't agree with in the first place. You're entitled to feel however you want and be uncomfortable with what you want, but the argument that men commit more sexual crimes is not a sensible argument against men and women being in the same room or even being nude in the same public spaces. These are choices all people are free to make.

Actually they aren't decisions people are free to make.

There are laws which mean certain facilities they should be single sex in the UK.

I'm fairly certain that they know that they won't be granted asylum. It's all just a game to them.

All part of the performance that is 'trans'.

Most men don't use the women's toilets. But in the smaller instances it happens, it doesn't make them predators. Making appeals to the law isn't a good argument, because laws are often stupid.

Also, if you insist that people use the toilets based on sex, then that would result in trans men using the women's room, despite looking like this. If someone who looks like a man is to use the women's restroom, then that would make it all the more easier for men to go in and claim they are actually biologically female, and you wouldn't be able to know either way.

But it's all pointless, given that it doesn't actually matter.

If it "doesn't actually matter", then why in heaven's name can't the men - all of them - just eff off into the men's toilets and leave us in peace?
For god's sake, is it really too much to ask?

Yes, the law is unenforceable in many settings in the practical sense.

However, the law does put a societal expectation and defines the norms of behaviour. So even though, for example, shoplifting is also not being enforced due to lack of police resources, 99.9% of people still refrain from shoplifting because of the mere existence of the law against it.

If shoplifting were not against the law, the rate of offending would be much much higher than it is in the illegal but not really enforced gray area it exists in.

It’s the same with the single sex stuff. Given the ability of plastic surgeons and hormone treatments to transform appearance, those that pass will use the toilets for their gender, and those that do not will not. Women will feel comfortable as they won’t know the difference, as it’s all women and those who can pass for women. If there’s no law, then women will accost even masculine women because the lack of a law generates fear and insecurity.

I responded to a comment that specifically brought up public toilets. I didn't bring it up. Nice projection though.

You actually responded to a post which gave a very brief summary of what the article said about why the American was leaving the US, which included what he said about his use of women's toilets.

And you then proceeded to go on and on and on about toilets.

Given TRAs tendency to compare anyone they deem transphobic to Nazis I hope he knows his history. I'm not sure that accusation would go down well with the Dutch

I don't know why people like you are obsessed with toilets.

If you want to discuss toilets, why don't you start your own thread and leave this one for the discussion about Americans seeking asylum in other countries.

Mate, not one word of that post accused men in toilets of being predators. You are so worked up about what you think women are saying that you are winding yourself up reading what isn't even there.

That is what some people are saying. I've seen them, which is why I took issue with it to begin with. Just as there are people claiming that men wearing dresses is indication of being a predator. A weird thing for 'gender critical' people to accuse.

Skywinn · 25/01/2026 00:11

Heggettypeg · 24/01/2026 23:57

You have missed the point. If the rule is no men in the toilets, that includes no gay men and no trans identified men, so if they go in, they are wilfully breaking the rules and can be told to leave.

If a man went in with his little daughter, do you really think that any woman who saw him wouldn't also notice the daughter and use her common sense?

And if who uses what toilet is so unimportant, why are men so hellbent on getting into women's toilets and why are you so hellbent on enabling them? They can use the Gents' and have done with it.

"Society is still sexist." There's sexism for both men and women, and there's countless other types of prejudice too. On the other hand, there are also lots of fickle and petty accusations of prejudice and wrongdoing. Accusing men of being predators because you disapprove of them being in a public toilet is an example of that.

You're making a lot of generalizations on men. Believe it or not, there are going to be many men not interested in you or even thinking about you. This applies even more so if we're talking about feminine trans women who are attracted to men. What does pornhub have to do with any of that?

The thing is, you are very invested in looking at this from the perspective of men.

To you, it seems like a really important requirement for each man (including transwomen obviously) to be considered individually as the special unique snowflake he is. The actions of other men are not his problem, so he should not be made to suffer by having his access to women restricted because of what other men did.

But you see, I'm not. I am not measuring things by what matters to men. I look at it from the perspective of women. And just as men cannot look inside women's minds to understand how much women bend and police their own behaviour to avoid angering men, women don't see inside men's minds to know which men are lovely and gentle and safe and which ones are going to be demanding and entitled and pervy.

Because while the violent and pervy ones are the ones we fear encountering the most, even the everyday entitlement of men who talk for us and over us and take up space that pushes us to the sides are harming us and reducing our power in the world. And that unfairness also matters, if you care about women as well as men.

Oh, and if you don't understand why the way women are portrayed on the 8th most visited website in the world matters, I really can't help you. Maybe you will understand when you've lived a bit more.

"If they see a man going into the Ladies', they know he's up to no good and can phone the police, round up some help or at the very least warn other women not to go in." Except this is factually untrue. Being up to no good requires intent and action. If a man is in the toilets and waits for his daughter to pee and leave, what is the crime? If a trans woman goes into the toilet, uses it and leaves, what is the crime? That is the issue here, you think it's okay to accuse people of being criminals (predators it seems) purely based on your disapproval of where they are, not on what they do. Which means you don't care about facts. Some gay men have been in the women's toilets with female friends too. Where is the criminal intent?

If a man happens to do something wrong, then that's on him. Not other men. The same would apply if a man did something predatory in the men's room. The criminal activity is the problem. Not what room people are in.

You have missed the point. If the rule is no men in the toilets, that includes no gay men and no trans identified men, so if they go in, they are wilfully breaking the rules and can be told to leave.

It’s bloody disgusting what’s happening to the rights of women and girls in the US.

Yes, if transgender immigrants qualify for asylum, then so do all women and girls in US States that have banned or heavily restricted contraception and terminations. It’s ridiculous to think transgender immigrants would qualify. Having your birth sex on your passport in no way compares to dying of sepsis because doctors cannot assist either with inducing labour or surgically to remove a fetus that has died in utero. Or giving up a baby for adoption. Or dropping out of school and trying to raise a child in abject poverty.

Sweetheart.

Society is still sexist. It sucks, but there you are. Look at the crime stats, Read the realtionships board. Fucking hell, look at the first page of pornhub. Too many men feel their interest entitles them to women's attention and their desire entitles them to women's bodies. As far as they are concerned, our presence in socety is all about what they want of us. what we may or may not want for ourselves is inconsequential.

Female-only spaces (physical, cultural and social) give us a break from all that male demand. They are important to women.

Treating men and women the same only works if you start from an equal place in the first place. If you start from a sexist society and treat us the same, all you do is perpetuate it.

There has to be an "epidemic" before you think safeguarding is worthwhile does there?
Tell us, what is your threshold number of sexual assaults at which you'll deign to register any concern?

Edited for typo - must get some compressed air to this keyboard.

How do you safeguard public toilets? They're open doors, literally anyone can go in to either room, any time. If a man is in the women's restroom, and doesn;t commit a crime, what is the issue? Discomfort alone doesn't really cut it, because people are uncomfortable with many things, it's not license to tell people what to do/falsely accuse people of crimes.
