Interesting list, thank you. I can see among the serious convicted criminals, Islamic hate preachers and actual Nazis, there is someone else banned for their theories on population replacement and immigration.

Given the declared intentions of some powerful Muslims and Muslim groups including Humza Yousaf and Anas Sarwar (did anyone see his leaked speech to Muslim leaders in Scotland promising them far greater power at the top of government and claiming that Muslims kept the country running during Covid as well as unilaterally deeming them to be true Scots), are we so sure these theories are so wrong?

Surely the whole point of a theory is to discuss it and work out if it has any legs? Rather than just banning anyone who mentions it?

Some Muslims are trying to warn us about what is ahead - they’ve lived it elsewhere and don’t want to go through it again. Even Baroness Falkner referred to it.

I'm inclined to agree with your analysis, even for people whose ideas I disagree with. As long as people aren't inciting violence, breaking defamation or libel laws, or supporting terrorism, I think freedom of speech is an important value to uphold.

I admire the fact that Americans are entitled to freedom of speech in their country's founding constitution. Freedom of speech is something that, in the last couple of decades following the ubiquity of the internet, a lot of Western govts are trying to reduce via salami-slicing legislation, or are allowing heavy-handed policing of speech, when it's used to criticise them and their policies.

We (the UK) banned all high-profile Soviet cultural figures for a while in the forties on the basis that their visits were USSR state propaganda. I think he was caught up in that general policy. Silly really, since he was considered a problem by the USSR for his opposition to their government and was fairly fortunate to survive the purges. We let him in later, though, post-Stalin. We gave him an honorary Oxford degree and everything, so we obviously figured it out! 🙂

As British citizens we can have opposing views to any government. She is not a British citizen and is an activist. Virtually all governments here and abroad restrict the entry of non citizens who are activists for such movements. The far right is the second largest threat as far as MI5 are concerned at the moment. They were the first threat for many years.

When I see the kind of people who are proponents of the Great Replacement Theory, I think - hmmm.. maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea.

As far as the OP point - countries do have the right to refuse people they see as agitators. On the other hand, what's good for the goose.... We might not have seen things like LWS in New Zealand, and all that came from that, if that was too heavily enforced.

My inclination is to allow anyone to visit who doesn't say anything that would be illegal for a citizen to say.
