Quite! Sex is one of the very things that is indicative of our humanness, and I suspect this is one of the great frustrations for many who like to imagine that we can be anything we like. We can't. Coming to term with certain limitations and/or natural boundaries in life can actually be a liberating experience

About ten years ago there was a horrific event in an English psychiatric hospital, where a male and female patient had struck up a relationship and formed a suicide pact, which they carried out by breaking out of the hospital along with another patient. Three people died.

I distinctly recall that the inquiry highlighted that a major risk factor was that male patients had access to and were often wandering in and out of the female ward. The hospital and the NHS came in for some severe criticism. How has the NHS lost this organisational knowledge in such a short time?

Mixing sexes on psychiatric wards is like airlines going back to allowing smoking on board, not screening hand luggage or allowing people to take bladed objects onto plane. An obvious regression in terms of overall safety.

This is not just one hospital's poor judgement, but NHS policy.

The NHS are still considering whether they are willing to obey UK law and the Supreme Court. They may decide that UK courts don't have any jurisdiction over them and it will continue.

Nobody is victim blaming on this thread apart from that poster last night who was quickly deleted. We are horrified and angry. We can clearly see it was not her fault, she was failed.

Nobody is point scoring. We feared long ago that something dreadful like this would happen and now it has. We gain no satisfaction from that. We are outraged and disgusted. Nobody with the power to do anything listened.

Until these extreme levels of censorship on accurate reporting are removed, so many of the public are unaware of the hazards posed to girls and women by mixed sex wards, changing rooms etc.

That poor, poor, woman. I hope the NHS now gives her the help she will additionally need. And I hope she has a good lawyer who will sue them. If she was mentally unwell enough to warrant admission, it’s absolutely bonkers that they considered her to have the capacity to decide she should go to a men’s ward.

The general public won't hear anything about this. The only thing there that genuinely cut through was Isla Bryson (which did have an impact, I believe).

Even the Darlington nurses have been so smeared and misrepresented by the media, they didn't have the impact they should have.

Spot on. Sadly eroding safeguarding the vulnerable is built into gender ideology. Whether it's gaslighting children that their bodies are flawed but a sex change could cure this or pretending that sex doesn't matter so men in women's hospital wards, changing rooms, toilets etc is desirable.

This mentally unwell young women has paid the price. And she's no doubt part of that cohort of young people who have been groomed by irresponsible adults in the NHS, education, politics etc that sex change is possible and desirable.

On another note ref the reporting, it may have been mentioned, but did you notice that these are the terms used in the article regarding the TIF victim:

Which is interesting in contrast to when there’s such awful news where there’s a man pretending to be a woman attacking women. We see in news articles the TIM is always referred to as
‘she’
‘a woman’.
‘Jane Doe’ (as in using the man’s preferred female name)

The decision makers at the NHS should definitely be accountable for this and not just the rapists. They enabled it.

Very few fake peni are able to get the pump successfully due to the rates and types of complications in the earlier stages of surgery to create them.
It also takes quite some time to pump them up.
All.of the above makes it highly unlikely that a woman with a surgically created penis could rape someone and since this law was changed no woman has been charged for it (crime stats upto 2024 we await the 2025 stats)

I remember writing some years ago when we were discussing this that the one thing more frightening than allowing men into all-female spaces was putting females into all-male spaces. The thought of what happened to this poor woman, in a psychiatric ward filled with violent males, is almost too upsetting to contemplate.

And what's so shocking is that the staff who made the decision to put her in the ward must have known what would happen to her. They couldn't not know. And they did it anyway.

The gist was: women pointing out that placing a vulnerable trans identifying female (a trans man who is biologically female) in a male psychiatric ward is apparently our fault for being horrible to trans people. I am a person who supports any other persons right to live as they see fit, but society needs rules based on facts to work cohesively and successfully. Based on these facts is that the trans man in this awful situation is a woman and the men on the ward knew this.
If you think we're all horrible hateful 'terfs" you are allowing your prejudices to over take rational thinking. While we are concerned and care about other females safety, which is why we want single sex to mean just that.
