the fact that it happens is one thing - i agree that the authorities don't appear to be overly worried about it but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be pressuring them to do more to stop all rape in prisons.

One aspect of that is to stop literally enabling it by putting women - no matter how they identify, and especially when they are already undergoing a mental health crisis - into men's prisons and vice versa.

Or are you just "meh, shrug, it happens, get over it" (or that they should "reframe their trauma"? or that they deserve it?)

You cannot describe the facts of this case correctly without stating that the victim is female. Anything else shows a total lack of respect for her in this situation.

Yes. We need to be able to say the facts of the case that a vulnerable, mentally unwell woman was placed on a secure psychiatric ward with violent, mentally unstable men. Referring to her as "he" or "they" obfuscates the reality both of what happened to her and the sheer cruelty of the people who made the decision to put her there.

I know not all of them, but their primal instinct seems to be, that they have to have sex and are happy to use it as a weapon against women especially in times of crisis, war and conflict.

I hope this tragic case gets publicity from more news outlets.

This poor girl was totally let down by the people who should have been protecting her when she was at her most vulnerable.

I hope she's doing as well as can be expected, it's brave of her to go to court.

As we are mainly discussing elements of the case that aren't part of the current criminal case ie the role of the NHS and gender ideology and the harms they have caused we should be OK

Rape is defined as unwanted penetration with a PENIS. Anything unwanted that is sexually inserted other than a penis is called a 'sexual assault'.

People often use the word 'rape' because they think it sounds more serious than sexual assault but thats very misguided. An adult is actually far more likely to suffer physical life changing issues from a sexual assault (especially with foreign objects) than from a rape. Some of the worst most stomach churning cases I ever heard where 'sexual assault' cases.

This person might say they are male, identify as male but they are clearly female (as biological men realised) she needed protection from her own wants. No to a male ward when you are biological female and the same for men who 'think' they are women. Sex matters.

This trans identified individual might want to be treated as male but the men realised the biological reality and sadly raped thus person. Then didn't see 'male' as she wanted to be seen.

Though as has been suggested earlier that being on a secure psychiatric ward does not mean she does not have capacity. If this young woman has been constantly affirmed in her false belief that she is a man and no one can tell, then the choice of an affirming man’s ward might have been an obvious one to her. Or she may have felt coerced into that decision by those around her telling her TMAM - like the TRA who popped up on here. Even now there is a chance that she may blame transphobia for her rape.

What is completely missing seems to be any assessment of her belief that she is a man as part of her mental illness.

A woman has been raped by two men. This was able to happen because the authorities who were supposed to be protecting her, didn’t. I realise the word ‘alleged’ or ‘allegedly’ should feature in there somewhere, but I believe her. Poor poor woman. Thrown into a lion’s den when she was at her most vulnerable.
