Sorry for cross post @Beowulfa

heathspeedwell · 14/01/2026 12:45

It would make sense for transmen to be shorter than other women on average because taking puberty blockers frequently stunts their growth. (Which is yet another good reason not to take them).

I wonder what the average height of TIFs is compared to other women. I would not be surprised if the average TIF were shorter than the average woman.

I think it's been shown that girls who take puberty blockers and then cross sex hormones will be below average female height. Interestingly, boys on this route can become tall (in the horse world geldings are usually taller than stallions). I wonder if gender-troubled teens are told this?

This is a theory best kept to yourself while you think it through.

Hoardasurass said "I very much doubt that a woman would intentionally set another woman to be raped just to prove a point against gender ideology".

That is not what I said or meant. I used TERF as shorthand for sex realist man or woman, and I was positing (or trying to) the possibility that the "decision" is a combination of policy and individual actions, and that a sex realist nurse (male or female) might have thought "I know she needs to go on the women's ward, but if I walk her there I will get shit, maybe reported, and we'll probably get sent back to the male ward anyway. Fuck it, I cannot be dealing with trying to protect these women any more, not least as people like them are exactly who are reporting me for expressing concerns about vulnerable women in men's spaces... I don't want her to come to harm, but if she does at least that might be more ammunition to keep women safe in future".

I do not for one second believe the hospital had a sex-realist policy and some nasty TERF went against it to cause harm to a trans person. Or anyone gender critical actively wanted her to come to harm

usedtobeaylis said "That is not equally a possibility. What the fuck?"

Sorry, I said "equally" in the sense of "in addition and having the same importance (used to introduce a further comment)" eg "not all who live in inner cities are poor; equally, many poor people live outside inner cities". That does not mean I think both are equally likely, or that there are equal numbers of poor people inside and outside of inner cities.

But surely she should have told them she was a biological female? Perhaps she wanted to go to a men's jail

You may have missed fact that when the State removes your rights and liberty they have a matching obligation to step in and take measures to ensure your safety?

Its a not such difficult a concept to grasp if you apply a limited amount of brain power to why rights and responsibilities are important.

It's striking that they're not accepting comments on this article though. I suppose they feared it would turn into a massive shitshow with victim-blaming comments like those on here last night and perhaps a bit of racism thrown in for good measure.

It can be that it is a blanket policy of the paper so as not to risk being held in contempt of court?

Most sexual crimes trials can have legal rules and court orders which restrict what can be reported or published. But I guess they did not want to be invited into court to explain.

It would seem her lawyers are referring to her as "he" in court. I can't imagine that helps

No it would not help.

And the medical staff who will take the stand will also have to use male words too.

The decision makers in the hospital will (I assume) not be required to explain the policy which resulted in her being placed on a male ward with no additional safeguarding.

It's a testament to quite how mad this fucking ideology is, that everyone is scrabbling around trying to find at least a semblance of reason for how this can happen.

And in the same vein, I absolutely cannot fucking believe that the people responsible aren't being held accountable.

Let's hope there's an investigation that we just don't know about. Yet.

The health and safety executive should be involved.

heathspeedwell · 14/01/2026 12:10

If this woman wants to sue the NHS for locking her up on a male psych ward, I'm sure there are hundreds of us who would be happy to contribute to a crowd fund.

We have to find a way to stop anything like this happening again.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 14/01/2026 12:06

This was the data on sexual misconduct in the NHS 2 years ago:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-65671018

Yet the NHS is still focused on removing single sex spaces and accurate sex based language for healthcare - "being kind" while enabling rape, indecent exposure and flashing.

Hospital corridor

35,000 cases of sexual misconduct or violence in NHS in five years

Rape, assault or being touched without consent accounted for more than one in five cases.

I am reminded of an oil company that investigated an accident. It turns out loads of people saw it was an accident waiting to happen but no one raised it as everyone assumed someone else would or that it must have been approved higher up the chain or command. They changed the culture completely and now it is a disciplinary offence not to report a safety risk if you see one (including down to the level of someone walking up stairs carrying something such that they don’t have a hand free to put on the bannister). The NHS seems to have implemented the exact opposite.

Yep the NHS is so far down the rabbit hole that they fail to warn/protect the staff member by clearly instructing them on what is required if they were told that the patient said she/he did not give permission to be touched by someone of their sex.

The staff member is open to possible criminal charges and loss of professional certification and liable to incur financial loss but faced with doing their job management opted to sign off blank paper.

The staff are instructed to lie to patients who notice the other sex in what should be single sex area and has a policy in place which enables the patient to be harrassed for noticing.

That looks like the prosecuting barrister. They are not her lawyer, they act for the Crown and she would be the witness in the criminal case and not entitled to her own representation.

Absolutely!

Apparently at least 1 member of staff had not been advised that a person identifying as trans was on the ward. And unfortunately if medical records had been altered to say the person was male, most would not have doubted the records. I'm sorry to say, but I think this is where not sticking to biology causes issues. Of course the attack was horrific and should not have happened, having said that.
Edited for typos!

Edited

(Errr sorry for the blunt langauge)

• if a medical professional who needs to be extra observant in their chosen specialisation can not pick a woman out in a room of men then they need to fuck off and find another field to work in.

• each shift should do a hand off to the next one so I am not buying into the idea that the fact she was female and IDed as trans was lost in the computer says so and somehow some staff knew and some did not

nicepotoftea · 14/01/2026 11:42

LastTrainsEast · 14/01/2026 09:50

This is not just one hospital's poor judgement, but NHS policy.

"Trans people should be accommodated according to their presentation: the way they dress, and the name and pronouns they currently use"

The NHS are still considering whether they are willing to obey UK law and the Supreme Court. They may decide that UK courts don't have any jurisdiction over them and it will continue.

Why have single sex wards at all if they think it's all about dress code?

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 14/01/2026 11:41

Oh FFS. I could weep for the poor woman. I’m so angry at the craven stupidity of whoever decided to put a female in an all male wing. Utterly unacceptable.

And a woman deeply involved in high level safeguarding, no less. Jeezo.
