A murder on every page seems rather implausible. I think Nicola is exaggerating again. And would be a nightmare to read if true. You'd get to the end and have over 300 dead people and not much in the way of solving them or unmasking the murderer(s).

Civility, nuance and settling old scores via a fictional proxy don’t seem to go together.

Do you reckon the protagonist will be a short gallus woman, brought up on a council estate whose family prized education and was the first in her family to go to university?

Did anyone actually care what happened in her other book?

This reminds me that I need to pick up a copy of Douglas Hurd's 1971 spy novel Scotch on the Rocks, which foresees a Britain thrown into turmoil by the SNP gaining serious political power.

The BBC made a mini-series based on it in 1973, but it has never been repeated due it its outrageous suggestions that some people in the SNP might be a bit dodgy.

I never thought of Douglas Hurd as being blessed with 20/20 foresight.
