Not really, they got in on low turnouts due to voter apathy. In many wards, turnout was under 40%.

Im really surprised you can sue elected officials. I thought being elected meant you could pretty much do anything you liked as long as you didn’t break the law.

They ARE breaking the law, by refusing to implement single sex spaces and encouraging men into them. There may wall be a case of wrongful dismissal, for Wendy Stephenson, who was sacked from council's independent remuneration panel.

Bristol ratepayers voted for authoritarian bufoons, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

i really hope they are successful and the case is widely reported. Speaking as a former Green, I want it to shine a light on the party’s current insanity. So many people aren’t aware of their misogyny- I think if you’re not gc, a lot of their positions simply aren’t coming to wider attention.

This isn't exploratory, they are playing hardball.

The two women have since hired leading London law firm Conrathe Gardner to instigate judicial review proceedings against the city council in the High Court.

Conrathe Gardner has taken on several high profile legal challenges around the issue of transgender politics, including a discrimination claim against the Girl Guides which prompted last month’s announcement that the organisation would no longer accept trans girls or women as members.

Its outrageous, but also dangerous. Who decides which views are verboten and which constituents should be silenced and banned?

The BBC Radio Bristol hourly news was leading yesterday late afternoon with a section of an interview with the council leader from earlier in the day where I believe he was saying he wouldn't prevent councillors from walking out if they didn't feel comfortable with "statements" from the public - there wasn't a BBC viewpoint/comment on it but I was still surprised to hear it as a key item on the news. It was from about 45mins into the John Darvall show in the morning, during one of their regular interviews with local councils.

That's fantastic news and about time! Brava to those women. I'm very local, used to live in North Somerset, now live in Glos and in many ways would have enjoyed living in Bristol for its restaurants and events - BUT there's no way I would do so while it's so politically anti-women.

Absolutely it’s a nightmare in particular for physical disability - so many narrow pavements, steep hills, inaccessible paths with no accommodations. Half the city is pebbled, you can’t even get a wheelchair down certain roads.

The hierarchy is very much trans and heavy drug users at the top of the ‘vulnerability pyramid’, with disabled people, the elderly, and sex workers much lower down. So basically men at the top who are free to intimidate under the guise of ‘being vulnerable’.

Just a reminder Bristol council deliberately excluded women who need single sex support due to eg rape/ sexual/ domestic abuse - from being able to access Any services by refusing to fund any organisation that guarantees female only services. So none of them do.

and as they jointly fund some abuse support with North Somerset council , women are affected there too.

As @HildegardP says its only inclusion for their favourite groups- men who say they are women appear to be top trumps! Women - the victims of Mvawg -don't matter.
