It's the 'correct' terminology if you want to pretend that there is no way to link the needs of the kind of person who might become pregnant, is pregnant, or has been pregnant. In other words if you are an old fashioned men's rights activist.

Exactly – the discrepancy highlights the misogyny of the movement more than anything else. In the break during lunch on the cricket on Sky the other day, there was a big segment on how to raise awareness of prostate cancer among men. I completely agree but there is zero awareness that it’s the word women that’s always supposedly offensive and women-specific health conditions are meant to be ‘inclusive’. Men can just tick along as usual.

This has been posted in a local newspaper and probably doesn't get much reach but if a national runs with it, they may not like the ridicule that will be heaped on them. So, "transvestite" for trans women, and some other word entirely for trans men? Sure, that could work too.

"Trans masc" alone carries the same problem as "trans man" though: it gives the impression that the person is male, when they are in fact female.

I just checked a few sites about prostate cancer screening and they all talk about men, even when they mention that trans women and male non-binary people should also get tested. And just like you, I've never heard of any discussion on that topic either.

Everyone knows a transvestite is a man. And they are the only ones relevant for safe spaces etc.
