Still no single sex Rape Crisis support in Brighton but…

Yes I was planning to write a Substack update - so many people have supported me and I’m aware I need to give an update although there isn’t really much more I can say apart from what I’ve said on this thread.

Seeking financial compensation from a rape crisis centre just doesn’t feel right, no matter how badly they have behaved. I only ever wanted to secure support for myself and other women, not get their money.

They have definitely dialed down the trans activism though and maybe they are supporting women in this new group. I have no idea, but if they are I wish it well.

I feel like such a fool for trusting them. I knew from the moment I released our ‘joint’ announcement by myself that they’d tricked me 😞

Thanks, I’m doing alright. The maddening, frustrating thing is that on paper SN have ticked the box while in practice they have done nothing. They claim that their group for ‘women assigned female and birth who still identify as women’ meets the criteria for the single sex space. And that is enough to support all the women waiting for adequate, trauma-informed support.

They have done the absolute bare minimum to satisfy the funders while doing absolutely nothing to build bridges with all the women who really need their support.

I am still not on their mailing list and it appears they remove any woman who requests single sex support. There are so many women survivors in Brighton and none of us are being supported by SN , either because there is zero trust or because SN has blocked / removed us.

All of this is difficult to prove and if it does go back to court a male judge is unlikely to get the nuances in language (ie using the term ‘assigned female at birth’).

It has been five years and I am so sick of it.

But I am getting support via Sisters Heal and I’m incredibly grateful for that 💜

I will do a full update really soon, I will need to check what I say with my lawyers.

Brief timeline is this:

Survivors Network deleted their social media accounts on the day the ‘joint’ statement was due to be released.

SN buried the ‘joint’ statement in a hidden part of their website and by September 2025 the joint statement had been deleted.

There was various correspondence between my lawyers and SN lawyers and the OPCC who are funding the single sex group.

By March 2025 there was still no single sex group.

In April 2025 SN announced they were running a group for women ‘assigned female at birth’ that was to be held from 2-4pm on a Monday. I had nothing to do with this group and wasn’t invited to be part of it.

My options now include perusing further litigation - the only outcome of this would be personal compensation - OR focussing my energy on supporting a new women’s org (Sisters Heal) that is proudly single sex and trauma-informed.

And that is why I started this thread about Sisters Heal and I am promoting the work they do.

Sisters Heal have had a last minute cancellation for their retreat in Syros at the end of the month. It’s in 3 weeks! 27 September - 1 October. Strictly women only (of course). I can’t understand how any of this is supposed to persuade women that males belong in women’s rape crisis support groups. It’s so creepy.
