So Gaines has carried out what many would argue is valuable work, namely creating a new citizen for her country. It's pretty shit for an elected representative of that country to trash talk her for not having a conventional job, especially when said representative's own work history consists of making lattes. Thatʼs why I said i believe we need to protect children of both sexes. I myself have sons and a daughter; I feel equally protective of them at different stages of their development. What she is also saying that AOC cannot hope to understand this as she isn’t a mother, and she meant this as a barb.

Not sure if I might be misremembering now. At one point - I think from the teammate with the disguised voice - they expressed an extra disappointment in Gaines because she had previously been supportive of a lesbian teammate (or they might have said ‘queer’ which means anything). As if objecting to Thomas meant she must hate the whole community, which is a wild accusation they didn’t bother to think any harder about.

Unless they were referring to Thomas all along, in which case I got the wrong end of the stick.
