Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

To find it heartening that despite so many famous people being anti JKR, their are still so many who are prepared to work on HP?

The end credits on the full cast audio takes 13 minutes. Hugh Laurie, Carl Prekopp, Mark Addy, Indira Varma.....and so many many names!

Then the TV series. Nick Frost, Warwick Davies, John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Katherine Parkinson and (my favourite) Daniel Rigby.

I feel that the actors and crew are saying that they agree with her (or at least, dont disagree), without actually saying that they agree, if you see what I mean.

That's why most people don't contribute here. Most people are not political creatures and only become invoved when something pops up on their social media feed. That does not mean that there should be no-one that does focus on, and is active in, the realm of political affairs.

Politics deals with the relationships between people and between groups of people; it deals with power relationships; issues of structural and cultural change; it deals with civilised safeguarding measures etc. It is very important, even if most people are not directly interested or engaged.

I agree to.some.extent, but now feel there are much more pressing the matters.
my point isnt about whether or not it is important more that most people aren't that fussed. It's no longer the issue it was (or never was for many).

the grift is over @godtierKaren even if you haven’t realised it yet.

It's the Wile E. Coyote effect:

The same reason why pedophilia or rape or domestic violence is everyone’s 'problem' even if we aren't all children or women. That's how civilised society works.

So I’m sure you’ll have lots of examples of how men are working to combat MVAWG? Tell me again how women should prioritise males being mean to other males when women and girls are attacked in their thousands each year. Go on. Explain why men not being allowed in women’s spaces matters more than the lives of women and girls. And do try to keep the misogyny to a minimum. Thank yew

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2025 08:42

I don’t really agree with the title of this thread. I don’t think it’s very many ‘famous people’ who are anti JKR (and by extension don’t GAF about women’s rights). It’s mostly just a few, such as the former child actors who don’t have much else newsworthy going on in their careers at this point.

I don't have to. Its self evident reporting is not offending so that fact alone discredits any conclusion you can make about that chart.

All you’re doing here is saying we cannot know the full extent of sexual assault by trans-identified men in exactly the same way as we cannot know the full extent of sexual assault by men who are not trans-identified.

But for the sexual assault we do know about, we know that trans-identified men are hugely over-represented.

You really need a better “try to trash GC arguments” crib sheet. The one you’re working from is clearly written by an idiot.

worrisomeasset · 25/11/2025 08:39

It’s time a ‘no feeding’ policy was applied and rigidly followed.

godtierKaren · 25/11/2025 08:08

That chart has been proven as a misrepresentation of the situation. Incarceration is not the same as offending. For example, most rapes of women are not reported therefore its impossible to know the extent of male violence to compare it with trans women.

Most men who identify as trans are assaulted or murdered ( by males) whilst engaged in the notoriously risky business of prostitution, or else by their intimate male partners. There are very few examples of men with trans identities who have been assaulted or murdered outwith those two categories or type of situation. It is male pattern violence and the male sexual drive that are the main issues.

90% of people think about this stuff maybe once a month. Remember it's a bubble on social media.

I have.a really hectic social job, social life and sporty life. Iwork in lots of different spheres. I probably knowingly meet one transperson every couple of months in any sort of meaningful way. Its just not as important to many people.

Civilised societies also offer protection to certain protected categories of people based on known issues and decades, and in the case of males and females, millennia of experience of some of the consequences of the differences between males and females.

This is one of the primary reasons we have 'Sex' as one of the protected categories. It is to ensure and that female people are given the protections and safeguards they require to engage fully in public life with some degree of equality of access and opportunity.

Male people have a known greater propensity to all manner of acts and behaviours which necessitate the provision of single sex facilities, services and categories for the dignity and privacy of the female sex when in public places.

Suddenly bothered about women and children when they can be useful to make a point huh?

How much time and effort exactly are you putting into all of those issues? I assume you must be campaigning on all of them in the same way you seem to expect women to be solving all the issues there are for men that are trans.

You say this and yet you are pushing for practices that put children and women at MORE risk of this. Why?

moderate · 25/11/2025 08:20

Yes, it’s impossible to know the extent of all male violence against women, irrespective of how the men identify.

But from what we do know, men who identify as women are an increased risk.

If you think the data has been discredited, link to proof of this.

So by your reasoning, men who are pretending to be women are likely to be carrying out even more sex attacks and rapes than we know about.

nauticant · 25/11/2025 08:20

For me, the point of this thread is that had these productions been made 5 years back, the actors involved would have had second thoughts about being involved and some would have pulled out.

But now, they're willing to consider it to be a mainstream career choice for themselves. Whether or not they're secret supporters of JKR, neutral, or whatever.

This means that the unhinged trans activists are losing their power. That's a definite improvement and it is heartening.

Are men doing a lot to stop other men from abusing their spouses and children?

What are men doing about the problem of male violence exactly?

Utter nonsense. I really don't agree with the ethics of my company. However they pay me well

And good luck if you work for the government! 😂

People want to work on huge projects like HP for the sake of their careers, the pay, the fun etc. Not everyone lives their lives so politically. In fact, this stuff doesn't matter to most people. The trans community is so tiny that most people have never even seen one and never will. Trans issues simply aren't a part of regular people's lives, even though the amount of media coverage makes it seem that they're in every bathroom, changing room, and female sports team going.

I don't know if it's heartening. I'm sure that some don't agree with her views but aren't going to shoot themselves in the foot over trans issues.

so tiny and yet think their views and special feels should override everyone else’s actual rights

House! What's the prize on the bingo today? I could do with a nice pre Christmas windfall.

BlueLegume · 25/11/2025 08:11

Trans women are men @godtierKaren

I am fine them living however they ‘feel’. But they are men. In a thousand years when they are excavated in an archaeological dig they will be identified as men.

I’m thinking godtierkaren is possibly the same as howesitgoin - another professional thread derailer.

Humans cannot change sex. Gender critical is the slur used. Sex realist is how I refer to myself. I am not ‘critical’ of anyone except the adults peddling nonsense to children about being born in the wrong body. That is racketeering.

Yes, it's an immediately recognisable writing style.

nauticant · 25/11/2025 08:11

So you're saying that if the true rate of rape was to be included then the men might even be as bad as the transwomen in their offending?
