I agree - and I was relieved when the facilitator stopped asking Mia the questions first. It was completely unfair at the start, as she answered them directly and as best she could. Then Oger then made unsubstantiated claims that she wasn't using evidence or attacked her personally or rambled away from the question. Talking on and on - really boring imo so I began to think that the whole idea was to bore the audience into submission as it was hard to keep track of his ramblings. Mia then got no right of reply so all his gobledeegook stood as the last word and he used so many words it swamped the whole discussion. Towards the end, the facilitator did switch around but he wasn't good at allocating the time fairly to each speaker at all. Oger just soaked up all the time. The university chap at the end was delighted that they had been able to discuss a difficult topic in a calm way - but imo people will look back at the film and think it is a weird thing to be proud of such a nonsensical discussion... it is obvious why they had to police "no debate" for so long.

Every answer at least three times longer than Mia's and 90% about himself.

I really hope that debate got very extensive cut through, Operation Let Them Speak at its finest.

Those who advocate for the sterilisation and mutilation of children or hand wave away the sterilisation or mutilation of children without a second thought are monsters. All of them. Without exception. There is no such thing as a vegan cat.

It is an adult decision and not one that should be made on behalf of a child. The implications are too serious.

I currently personally know a woman who is actively harming her child due to her own mental health issues and it's dreadful to watch but next to nothing I can do and probably anyone else can do. I am not going to go into details here about it. It's nothing to do with trans issues but it's still a clear example of a parents behaviour being exceptionally concerning in a way that overprotective and overbearing and wildly inappropriate at times. (She's raised red flags with school, gp, social services and her friends have all now started to realise they can't actually help or support either despite being a lovely person). Much of it is for the drama and for the attention. This woman has a pretty dull life and no real prospects and very poor judgement when it comes to men.

Knowing all this and seeing it unfold before my eyes, over a number of years, it makes it's all too real how parents can and do go down the rabbit hole and actively seek to harm their child, but this situation they aren't raising red flags they are actively being aided and abetted by cheerleaders who have sought, for their various own agendas, to ignore and dismiss safeguarding protocols.

There is a generation of kids who have been taught this is normal and been taught shite like kids were murdered in the 1950s by their families for being trans without challenge or questions.

I see monsters who will eventually be exposed in a massive scandal a few years down the line. Nothing more, nothing less.

That's why the grooming gangs stuff is all having so much traction too - and why many groups are still failing to grasp why it's so important.

It’s chalk and cheese isn’t it, in terms of clarity. Mia is clear, direct, calm, and well reasoned. Oger is none of these things. You’d think the debate would be over.

But I’ve sat through school debating competitions and been baffled by the adjudicator’s decisions

I must say that after wading through that interview yesterday, I am surprised that Oger gets the media presence he does. I would have thought that he is a poor spokesperson.
