This is very clearly a predator, a fetishist and their reasons for wanting access to girls and young women is so obvious it can be seen from space. Sully is a walking red flag. The exhibitionism is just part of it. Sully shared those on social media and if Sully didn’t understand that once they are published there, that the control of who uses those images is lost, then that is yet another reason that Sully should not be anywhere advising children.

No person who cannot recognise the boundaries of appropriate behaviour for a GG leader should be in a position where safeguarding decisions need to be made and enforced to protect children.

I think that the trouble is that it DOES involve somebody taking them to court. So that will be yet another family or individual woman/ group of women having to find the means and withstand the scrutiny to battle a major organisation in a long and gruelling legal process. Despite the SC ruling, there is nobody external implementing this or penalising groups when they openly defy the law. The government is failing women and girls big-time on this, but it's not just them - every single regulator, from the charities commission to Ofcom, has played their part in this disaster.

Plastering 'her' 'private safe space' all over social media is the kink here, I think you'll find. That is just one of the ways this individual gets their thrills, and as we know paraphilias go hand in hand with other paraphilias. More red flags that a Communist Parade.

Also the post further up that highlighted disability access barriers was shocking , but GG showing wheelchair access inclusivity on their website 🤯 ?!

I really don’t understand the thought processes for organisations like GG - oh it looks like we’ve been breaking the law; never mind, we don’t like that law anyway….. Surely behaving in a legally compliant way is the minimum requirement for an organisation, not some optional extra? But I guess as pp says, it only matters if/when someone takes them to court 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for clarifying 👍 it’s still horrible and shows the organisation is in passive agreement by allowing these denouncing/ vitriolic comments to populate their socials. It props up the HQ narrative and shows they uphold their stance regarding the practice of ‘inclusivity’, regardless of the law and the protection/ safeguarding of girls. At least for now, let’s keep hoping it will change.

I should have been clearer, sorry. This was in the comments under GG's posts rather than official GG policy, but responses were vitriolic to anyone commenting supportive of the Supreme Court judgement and those responses were NOT removed by Girlguiding. If you go to the GG Facebook page and search for 'Supreme Court', you can find the post and see the comments, like, "I agree. I hope someone from the Girlguiding social media team is able to coordinate with the safeguarding team to send code of conduct reminders to some of the comments on this post, and further action if necessary"

That's insane. Surely if anyone faced sanctions for having GC views, GG would be breaking the Eq Act?

Maybe they just don't care as long as nobody takes them to court 😪😡

This is so telling and thank you @WelshBookWitch for sharing your insider experience of GG. It is so desperately tragic for an organisation that used to be brilliant and I loved my time in Brownies and Guides in the early 90’s. I have young DD’s and would have loved to have signed them up to join and get the fun, freedom and friendship I experienced, but cannot with the organisation as it now stands. I am actually still pretty shocked the safeguarding of girls has been, imo, violated and utterly disregarded in favour of open access for men and boys. Girls safety and rights have basically been sacrificed on the altar of ‘inclusivity’ haven’t they. Did they even acknowledge or apologise for the Monica Sulley scandal?

I can only hope in the future it might return to its former good standing and the values on which it was founded - for girls. Until then I’m keeping my girls well away.

I thought our gg was great and couldn't see them being comfortable at admitting boys and likely to quietly push back.

However 4 years after she left, my daughter has finally managed to explain why she no longer wanted to continue and it was that when told to do something practical no matter how much she concentrated, she couldn't take in a long set of instructions. She would ask for help and be told off for not listening. I was the same as a child. We are both really good at taking in written instructions.

She realised she was starting to feel anxious and was losing her confidence so she stopped going. That's a shame as it wouldn't have taken much to realise she was struggling rather than being awkward and build her confidence up.

GG is sadly not the organisation it was. The focus used to on giving girls the chance to experience different things, have fun and contribute to the local community.

Now it’s been totally transformed into an organisation that focuses on introspection. They blather on about inclusion (although they are happy to arrange events that aren’t accessible to wheel chair users, and won’t help if you ask for provision - it’s only some things they focus their inclusion on, despite having pictures of girls in wheelchairs on everything).

Many of the leaders mean well but seem to lack critical thinking - recent event all the participants were asked to bring ‘something special that represents their family’. Not many brain cells required to realise that this could throw up all sorts of problems for girls with difficult home lives (not the sort of situation inclusive they focus on.

Many of the leaders have colourful hair and are very enthusiastic about trans stuff. HQ appears to be utterly captured and totally remote from what actually happens in units. Many of the activities we have to do are either things that they do in school or very preachy / agenda driven. There’s also an emphasis on climate change and activities about mental health (not appropriate to be delivered by untrained people) and some that imo give damaging messages. Rather than being an organisation that helps girls it has become an organisation that is focused on girls ‘campaigning’ on certain issues (writing to mps etc) and I don’t like the way it puts a level of responsibility on to them to worry about things. Obviously some with nonsense about gender ID.

When they survey to find out what the girls are interested in they give them a small list to choose from with a ‘how important is this’ category and they are all ‘worthy/ virtue signalling’ things that girls are trained to agree with eg: caring for wildlife, including everyone, the environment, not discriminating against people because of their gender …. And then base everything on that!!!

I left last year, sadly at the time but I don’t miss it at all!

If their hands are tied, I expect they will officially become mixed sex rather than female only. They will then pitch this as a loss for girls, arising from an inadequate law.

GG is led by people who have denounced sex as a legitimate or useful category for social organisation.

I used to be a Leader pre children and always intended to return, but decided I won't be due to this position from HQ.
Have registered my son for Scouting though he's too little yet- does anyone have any insight into the situation there?

On the Facebook posts, anyone supporting the Supreme Court ruling (aka The Law) is denounced as a bigot with threats to report them to their commissioners for having such views

@TWETMIRF I also stay off the FB groups largely, lots of captured leaders and toeing the HQ line. Its so ironic that so much of the programme is about speaking out/true to myself/hear my voice etc, as long as we speak out about the right things otherwise we are all bigots.

Girlguiding are ignoring the very easy to understand law because they don't like it. HQ are a massive problem but there are lots of leaders posting on Facebook about how we are such a better organisation for being trans inclusive. There are lots of us who are hanging in there hoping that things will change but the longer they keep on prioritising males, the fewer of us will remain. HQ now have a situation where there are lots of us who will leave if they don't abide by the SC ruling and lots who say they will leave if they do.
