Not sure if this has been posted in any of the threads but the usual suspects in the House of Lords are plotting to derail the EHRC guidance. It all sounds highly duplicitous.

Unfortunately I don't have a share token.
https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/house-of-lords-trans-guidance-ehrc-t90bkt0rc

The following are some excerpts from the article. The whole article has a lot more detail.

"A group of peers is at the centre of a House of Lords plot to derail guidance protecting women’s single-sex spaces, leaked documents have revealed.
The group, which includes a former head of Stonewall and one of its founder members, is seeking to scupper rules drawn up by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) by delaying the government’s process until a new chair of the regulator is appointed.

A source told The Times that Lord Collins of Highbury, the government’s equalities spokesman in the House of Lords, had been involved in “strategy development” with the group. Neither he nor the Office for Equality and Opportunity has denied the claim, repeatedly refusing to say whether he had met or been contacted by the group.
....
The strategy outlined plans to present the group as “constructive partners” while pushing for additional due diligence on the guidance, which critics suggested was a move designed to delay implementation. It said they would push the government to “use the forthcoming appointment of a new chair and additional commissioners as an opportunity to restore balance and credibility to the EHRC’s leadership”.
....
Peers were encouraged to table written and oral questions to ensure ministers confirm that the guidance has undergone proper consultation, legal review, and equality impact assessments, and to raise concerns about “balance and credibility” in upcoming EHRC appointments.

The group includes a number of peers including Hunt, the Stonewall co-founder Lord Cashman, the former Labour health minister Baroness Thornton, the former Scottish Labour leader Baroness Alexander, the Lib Dem peer Baroness Barker, Baroness Chakrabarti, Baroness Ramsey and Baroness Donaghy."

I know the make-up of the HoL changes with new appointments etc. but it was the HoL that managed to get a change to the Ministerial and Other Maternity Allowance Act 2021 so it uses the word mother rather than person. This was a real victory for the HoL.

Lord Winston was a key speaker.

The Fee Speech Union have Lord Young in the house and the FSU consider all this genderwang to be compelled speech, so he'll no doubt have something to say in any debate about it.

They don’t want balance at EHRC, they want control. Like they had when the previous head of Stonewall was the chair. The problem for them now is the EHRC have recognised women have rights too.

There's a lot more public awareness now. And the public are unsurprisingly not all that keen. Darlington Nurses case is about to lay out the issues very very clearly, I suspect.

I recall the HoL had an amazing debate with a selection of powerful and informed speeches from peers that upheld the rights of women to signle sex spaces, sports etc and highlighted the dreadful outcomes for children caught up in all this.
So hopefully the toxic Cashman, Hunt, Brinton etc will meet some stern opposition from peers who aren't intimidated by the usual trans bullying.

Not to mention that it won't change the law.

Undoubtedly, they can disrupt and slow things down but I’m pretty sure their views are not majority ones in the House of Lords. I doubt that this collective will sway the Lords en masse.

The EHRC is also due to appoint at least three new commissioners in the coming months and the document suggested the group would attempt to lobby the watchdog’s new chair and commissioners to water down its guidance.

They just cant accept that Baroness Falkner was very effective in breaking up the TRA stranglehold had on the EHRC, and they made her pay for it (remember the complaints).

Sadly for Mary And Stephson she is going to come under immense lobbying and will be stopped from just getting on with her job.

And if she does stand up to them they will make her life hell.

How many months was Baroness Falkner suspended because of false allegations against her.

They have no shame.

And clearly think the legal system is irrelevant.
