I think the only positive that could come out of this shocking act is for it to be very very widely publicised - I thinking a lot of people have no idea about the level of violence underlying the trans rights movement, and believe the 'both sides as bad as each other' thing.

Re terrorism: other rights groups turned to violence after their decades, centuries even, of calm parliamentary arguments, peaceful demonstrations etc. were met with batons and bullets.

TRAs have short-circuited that and gone straight to violence.

That statement came before the attack, and the Argus has contacted police for comment. Let's hope its strong condemnation and not more pandering.

The Centre has acknowledged that some trans, non-binary and intersex residents might have felt "anxiety and stress" if that's what you mean.

You have to read that in the context of the whole statement though. And the timeline of events.

Violence, or the threat of it, against civilians, for a political purpose is terrorism, and its time the police did something about it. Also, TRAs would be idiots not to publically disavow BashBack, but we will see...

I had to smile at the ignorance of human nature displayed by that poster:

The poster claims that FiLiA supports "anti trans policies, anti sex work policies, opposing adult content online including in video games" and is "pro police and tough on crime".

I can see many a crusty small-c conservative reading that and going "maybe the feminists are onto something after all!".

I do think we need to acknowledge that there is something called (for want of a better expression) "second tier terrorism". Smashing windows to intimidate women who want to talk is terrorism in a literal sense, but on the other hand I think it's important to not get carried away. It is not the same as what the IRA did in Brighton in the 80s or what ISIS do.

Edited to add: obviously there are MANY more than this. I myself witnessed an assault on a Youtube reporter at a LWS event. He was a neutral attendee just reporting on the local event.
