I feel that I have been taken over by aliens. All my posts are now pink. And OP posts are now the blue that used to be the colour on MNHQ posts. [confused]

I ended up skim reading the official thread, but it seems some really strange decision to not just delete a post, but delete the name of the poster.

And some other strange things. (I didn't take notes - sorry!)

But seems serious in terms of how the forums actually function.

Mumsnet HQ has posted that this is a bug and they're working on fixing it. Quite why such a bug should appear during a merely cosmetic update, well, your guess is as good as mine.

Not sure if I like the new colours, I'm fairly close to indifferent really, but I do like that my posts are no longer such a similar colour to the OPs posts.

I tried this last night, but found it difficult to use.

Maybe I should give it another go.

Of all the things in the world to be offended by this barely features. People need to get a grip.

Typical my world is okay so everything must be alright.

If you read the MN official thread there are many, many post from users who are actually negatively impacted by the changes, because of visual impairments.

Just in the time that I have spent catching up on that thread, I now have the type of headache I would normally only get from being stuck in a room with bright over head lights.

I shouldn't need strong painkillers to be able to use MN.

Have suggested on the main thread on site stuff to use the report function on MNHQ OP to let them know.

No, the big red buttons identifying every one of a user's own posts, which serve no purpose in 'light'/standard mode & can't be turned off. If an abusive partner was looking over his victim's shoulder while she looked at the site, or used her computer/phone when she'd left herself logged in, he could immediately see what she'd written & know that it was her. She could then be in danger because of what she'd written.

What's the rationale behind not seeing the username of a reported post? It's quite useful to see, particularly if a frequent offender, as I may choose not to engage with them!

Not just DV victims. There are some posts which could cause considerable social or work difficulty for an OP if someone else saw them on the OP's screen helpfully labelled My Posts.

No, MNHQ are the only ones who can delete posts. But read my sentence in full: posts can be deleted and no one can have any idea who it was. They now look like this:

@MNHQ I really really don't like the new colour scheme, and miss the suffragette colours immensely. Please can you add those colours back to the options in settings so that normal service is resumed?

Also, how reductive is pink and blue as the standard colour settings in a website for women. FFS.

I'm quite liking it. I'd never been into pink before, but this summer I developed an unwavering taste for wearing combinations of pink and blue.
