Well she's said she will provide proof although I seem to remember at least one post on here saying DNA evidence can be false so I suspect it will still be protected.

Don't we all put ourselves and our loved ones first? How many of us are heroic when it comes to the crunch? No reason why BM should be judged for that

Just think of how it must feel when people lie about you, say you aren't the mother of your children, that you don't actually exist and a new low that she spent years in jail for child sex offences. Are you saying you wouldn't get to the point where you'd say enough and take a stand?

If I had the money (I don't) I might well take a stand against someone who was saying this about me. I have zero issue with BM suing for libel either. If CO is lying about her she has every right to take legal action against her. But this will involve her having to provide evidence in court. It's how the process works.

I don't know very much either about French politics. But from what I've read they have similar laws in France to ours. French feminists have faced similar struggles as we have here with opponents calling them far-right or conspiracy theorists. Macron was pro self-ID back in 2022 but he's backed off from that now perhaps after seeing what happened in Scotland. Macron is as much of a truth seeker as Keir-some-women-have-penises-Starmer. They are happy to throw women under the bus for an easy life but then complain when they are finally affected by this nonsense.

If, as she insists, this is all lies then I don't blame her fighting, this doesn't just affect her it must affect her husband and children. If she proves her case I hope the courts punish the liars to the maximum and I think some on here need to think about what they are saying.

yes to all of this. I've been probably naively astonished by the posters on this thread, who confidently assert verifiable bollocks and seem utterly unable to examine what they are saying in any kind of rational light.

MN is the only social media I do, and even then only selected parts. It feels like I've missed something huge that there are large swathes of people out there who have lost their grip to such an extent that they ardently believe this pointless nonsense.

Lol, if they were fighting for the “cause of truth” they would fight for ending the practice of allowing men to lie about their sex by changing their identity documents. They are in a position to do this. This would benefit all women including BM. But they don’t actually care about the truth, they only care about themselves.

yes!! I’ve listened to Candace's arguments (because I believe in listening to both sides). I can well believe something is being covered up. To say she is a man seems a big over reach. Far more likely it is the reasons you gave.

I still cannot understand how this man has come to be president and this relationship accepted. The French are usually very demonstrable in their protests, it’s too high profile to be hidden or swept under the carpet. But nothing is said…. Literally nothing. Not even by his political rivals… I do think that’s weird.

It was a sense of revulsion at the Macron relationship that led me to look into her first marriage years ago - what was the impact on the husband and children? The husband was devastated by the scandal and withdrew into a very quiet life but he existed for sure. The children seemed to put on a brave face - but they had little choice. The French public did not seem too scandalised.

I suspect it costs him votes, because it makes people do the thought experiement "How would I feel about the Macrons' relationship if the older person had been male?"
Every time a voter thinks, "If Brigitte is a man then he's a creepy predator ... hang on, why does it make a difference whether she's male or female to how dodgy their relationship is ... not sure I want that for my head of state."
So they're willing to lower themselves to sue the slanderers.
My first guess for why their are gaps in Brigitte Macron's biography and well guarded secrets would be gaol time served in her 20s and early 30s for previous sexual relationships with teenaged children.
But maybe my reaction to her is too black and white. I cannot see her as anything other than a child abuser.

Two French women who falsely claimed that the country's First Lady, Brigitte Macron, was transgender have been found guilty of slander.

In December 2021, Natacha Rey and Amandine Roy broadcast unsubstantiated rumours online that Brigitte had never existed, and that her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux had changed gender and started using that name.

The defendants were ordered to pay €8,000 (£6,750; $8,859) in damages to Mrs Macron, and €5,000 to her brother.

The French courts recognising and acknowledging that Brigitte Macron and her brother are of course two separate people, to the point where compensation for slandering was paid out separately to each of them.

This demolishes the foundations of this silly conspiracy theory.
