Nobody here is going to be " flexible" when it comes to protecting women's established sex based rights. Equalities legislation is designed to respect, accommodate and cater for the specific requirements of different groups. Female ( Sex) is an established group with its own discrete provisions.

People with trans identities also have their own set of rights...but they do not have precedent over the establsihed rights of female people. There can be no " flexibility" on this.

Male people do not own the set of protections that have been specifically created for female people.

We all exist. What would be the point in denying that someone exists?

But adopting a trans identity does not make you into the opposite sex. People who adopt trans identities are either male or femae, just like the rest of us...regardless of how they choose to present. They are not a unique category of human being. They are people with the same range of foibles, traits, characteristics and preferences as everyone else.

People who align with the precepts of transgender ideology ( a set of ideas about what constitutes 'identity' and sex) tend to think if someone doesn't accept that a person has changed sex it is to "deny their existence".

I say that If an identity is totally dependent on other people accepting it or validating it then it is an incredibly fragile construct, and I, for one, am not prepared to pretend that someone is something they are clearly not, and certainly not under duress.

People can imagine whatever they like about themselves. But nobody else has to take part in that imagining.

I've no idea if the shooter was left or right wing or a mix, or neither.

What is possible is that the febrility and tribalism of the current political landscape has and is pushing people to more extreme stances. Black and white thinking, a refusal to critically evaluate, loaded onto a generation that face dislocated communities and a harsh economic climate.

I've heard discussion over this from cross party commentators on this who I've followed for some time and are fairly decent.

The point was made that regardless of his political pov, the Utah governor was 'a good sort' not prone to just repeating nonsense because he is 'a decent man'.

This was actually accepted as a fair point by the left that I saw.

I think my feeling on this is there are elements on the left who would not accept any amount of evidence indicating that Tyler Robinson's partner is trans because it's an uncomfortable admission to make because it doesn't fit with their world view so it's easier to ignore.

What I've seen online evidenced about him in terms of the partners online activity definitely support this and isn't 'faked by Trump'. I think it's more difficult to fully ascertain Robinson's political beliefs from this though - I don't think it's a slam dunk he's a leftie (he's clearly heavily influenced by the right in his memes and his behaviour aligns with right wing black pill nihilism but may be manifesting in left wing political concerns).

And we can't dismiss the timing of his shot being right after a question about trans shooters. It's impossible.
