I think you need to look at a recurring theme; trans-antifa promoting violence. Armed Queers co-hosted a workshop with a trans Antifa gun club that was involved in an ICE facility shooting .
Also there are plenty of peaceful gay ex-Mormons.

Was it left wing or right wing?

It seems to me that people are desperate to blame the "other" side so that they don't have to look at their own behaviour and make changes to it.

Yes, well observed

You are deliberately missing my point.

He clearly has right wing influence even if he's left wing now BECAUSE OF HIS FAMILY UPBRINGING.

You can never escape where you come from and how it shapes you.

Or how it can drive them into the arms of extreme ideas or behaviour.

I'm thinking of my brothers friends and how it was the ones from traditional right wing families who went 'off the rails' spectacularly as a backlash.

The governor/FBI have said that they were in a romantic relationship.

Their young male neighbor said he saw them kissing and holding hands. They were in a romantic and sexual relationship. Supposedly Robinson had a previous trans lover.

RedToothBrush · 16/09/2025 11:26

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/09/2025 10:37

They’re probably hoping their sons/daughters might grow out of it eventually.

Well they have every reason, backed in evidence, to believe that they will.

Best not talking about families who continue to love and support their children even though they don't support their politics.

That's be like admitting they aren't quite as far right as some would have you believe...

ArabellaSaurus · 16/09/2025 11:22

That never happened, and if it did, so what?

nauticant · 16/09/2025 11:19

The discussion elsewhere seems to have shifted from:

The NY Post? Are you that stupid that you believe Murdoch disinformation? There's no evidence the room-mate is trans or that they were in a romantic relationship!

to:

It would be best if we don't discuss any aspects of this case that relate to trans or relationships.

It does happen. It must be very unusual to share a room if so far apart ideologically, but a shared house or flat is possible.

Roommates are more like flatmates. I had roommates the first few months I lived in the US but we didn't share rooms, we all had our own. Does it say in any of the links that they shared?

lcakethereforeIam · 16/09/2025 10:48

Interesting and worrying article in Unherd

https://unherd.com/2025/09/the-science-behind-trans-violence/

I'm not convinced by the number crunching but agree it is a very complex area with so many parameters and relatively small sample sizes. I don't disagree that tp are more likely to be mass shooters, or overall more violent though. I wonder if the numbers were split by their actual sex, what that would show. Although that would make the sample size even smaller. It does show that young people who claim to be trans are being very poorly served by the medical establishment. It's desperately sad that they're not receiving good care. I worry that as they radicalised each other on-line and the cohort that are ROGD (for want of a better term) get older, perhaps see how transitioning hasn't made them happy, look for someone to blame (Charlie Kirk), can't deal with the aftermath (Catholic School shooter) we might inevitably see more of them.

That's what I hear... but the point I was trying to make is that I don't think it matters... there's no way they would share a flat together unless TR was 100% into the ideology that his "roommate" (god I hate that expression, other than if they literally are not a couple but have to have single beds in the same room!) was into. I simply cannot comprehend a trans person or TRA living with someone who was neutral let alone gender critical.

I was going to say, I’ve seen that lurking on TRA forums that they are still being supported by their parents although they don’t get on. There have even been support threads here where mum is still paying for uni etc.

I've seen that too. They've gone no contact except when they need financial support.

I do feel for the parents who must be desperate to keep up any kind of relationship, no matter how impossible the children are.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/09/2025 10:38

I think this is even more likely in the US where there is no benefits safety net in the same way (please correct me if wrong).

It's not impossible that Lance was thrown out by his parents, and that's still a common enough experience in LGB and T communities that people will jump to that conclusion.

Alternatively, the family ethos in Mormonism is incredibly strong, and there's definitely a type of very conservative parents who will be far too indulgent towards their slacker adult kids.

Take your pick.

Interesting the Mormon family dynamic.
Now the FBI is investigating Armed Queers SLC ...and they have received NGO money.

RedToothBrush · 16/09/2025 10:09

The story circulating is that Lance Twigs was apparently thrown out by his parents when he was 17 when he came out and they disowned him.

This does not tally with the fact that Lance and Tyler were living in a flat owned by the Twiggs family and they were financially supporting Lance still, including for health insurance.

It's another of those stories of disconnect where someone is apparently so hated that their parents still are willing to support financially despite being accused of hating and the person is willing to accept that help from the people who hate so much.

We need to talk about those hatey bigoted nasty Mormon Christian parents.

Or we start to have conversations about adult children grifting off parents and disengaging from the adult real world and all its responsibilities so they can play out their online fantasies and play more computer games.

The nature of my work involves young people (aged 16-25) who have been ‘kicked out’ of the family home. There is about a 50/50 split between those whose families have ‘disowned them’ and those who offer financial support and work hard at trying to maintain a relationship.

In the case of a young person experiencing significant mental health issues, or living a lifestyle that conflicts with other family member’s values, I can imagine the family determining that their young person could not continue living with them but provide alternative housing and other supports.

He has already been found liable for committing sexual abuse.

We already know about his wider reputation.

We know from the last election that a majority of American voters don’t care.

I realise that, doesn't negate the fact there could be worse out there. If what Michael wolf reported is true, and the pictures come out, and they're underage well hopefully America hasn't sunk so low that that is OK. Even if it ruins his reputation post administration or after his demise and he isn't revered as something to be admired , for the women who were abused by him that would be some kind of solace and justice.

Utah Mormonism --> trans furry gamer culture must have been a hell of a switch!

Assuming reports are accurate, I think the striking thing is that he doesn’t decide to move away to a state that would be more accommodating of his lifestyle.

Apparently he just finds somewhere comfortable to keep gaming.

There are women who have made accusations about him, ( his ex wife for one, although she retracted it at a later date) he has admitted how he interacts with women, boasted about it , how he acted around his beauty pageants, been found guilty in civil court , so if there were a number of women with similar stories or worse , possibly skirting the age barrier, based on the pictures Michael Wolff reports that epstein showed him, who knows , i am only surmising based on how hard he is working to keep them on lockdown and all of his previous behaviour. But men like that , don't just behave badly once or twice. I would imagine he would be wrapped up in legality for years if it all came to light at once with the possibility of destabilising the government because who wants to align themselves with a prolific abuser, if that were found to be the case. The republicans who want to carry on after he is gone may not be so prepared to stand by him if the midterms dont go his way. If he is guilty there is always the possibility he could give himself immunity from prosecution on exiting the Whitehouse, if that is even a thing, or indeed if he ever does leave given his maneuverings to permit a 3rd term.

Pangolins are evil.

They killed hundreds of thousands.

They should be banned, then the world would be a better place.

I mean, the political shift itself is probably very destabilising. "Everything I ever thought was true was wrong" is a deeply unsettling feeling.

Many of us in this thread have probably been through something similar on a smaller scale - I think it's very common to have been comfortably in lockstep with the progressive left until suddenly finding oneself GC, maybe having to find new friends, suddenly questioning media bias. I know 2019-2021 were deeply upsetting and destabilising for me personally. And I mostly stayed on a good footing with family, career etc to give me some anchors.

(Although I must say that having been familiar with TracingWoodgrains' work for some years through Blocked & Reported, I did have a latent base-level world model where Utah was actually full of Mormon gamer furries)
