I think it’s more the general snottiness and lack of empathy I am reading in your tone. You do come across as a bit patronising and condescending. Not saying that’s a male trait, but on here, it’s usually the male posters who come across like that so I can see where the confusion lies.

2 from women who are disappointed their baby is male due to various gendered stereotypes. Many other women contributed to speak about their own horror at having a boy due to these same stereotypes.

Ive never seen anything like it so openly.

Not just confusing children, but literally removing the ability to be specific about sex in any written or verbal communication. The language of law, of art and culture, of online discourse, of sharing experiences, history, analysis, expectations and needs ... the ability to speak clearly about who is which sex, which sex did what to who and why, obscured away not just for the future but in records of the past as well.

And who does that hurt most?

Not men, "mankind", the "common man", the neutral "he", the default human perspective in discourse, history and culture.

It hurts women. The "invisible" half. The exception, the sex that has to be named specifically to be remembered and included, to be differentiated in data or considered in culture.

People have the right to believe any nonsense if they want, as long as it doesn’t impact the rights of others. Whether that’s ley lines or gods or witchcraft or homeopathy or that you can change gender I don’t care.

But unlike ley lines etc, gender ideology does unavoidably impact the rights of others! You can’t obey its commands without affecting other people. Not only the major wrongs such as putting boys in girls’ dormitories etc, but even if it’s just confusing children by using wrong or made-up pronouns.

It's a lot easier though for children, even adolescents, to pass as the opposite sex than for adults. I don't think we know the age of this trans child at the camp.

Fascinating, if somewhat confusing at times, discussion. I'm sure there are some trans people for whom the root cause of their feeling trans, or at least part of it, is to do with entrenched beliefs about gender differences at home and / or elsewhere. However, I'm sure there are lots of other causes and in most cases it probably won't just be one thing (it's all a rich tapestry). The problem for me is that currently trans is presented as the cause, the issue, the thing, and the answer. Once a person realises they are trans, that is often seen as explaining everything. Sadly for a long time no one has been allowed to talk about trans as if there might be any underlying cause, or multiple causes, instead we have had to accept it as both the cause and the symptom and even trying to ask why it is that some people end up feeling this way was seen as close to genocide. I am quite sure that trauma is involved for many, but that doesn't automatically mean 'blame the parents' in all cases. Many parents try very hard in difficult circumstances but things happen outwith our control, or we do and say things without fully understanding the implications, or we are angry or tired or sad or stressed and we let our kids down one too many times as a result. I'm sure in many cases, it is a result of a fetish and I'm afraid I've never been brave enough to delve more deeply into how or why they develop. I'm sure societal expectations and peer pressure play their part. In the old days people worried that anorexia was caused by pro-ana websites, skinny models and so on. The anorexic girls I knew either had a lot going on at home or, looking back, were probably also autistic, and lived in a world where skinny was worshipped. So it was part of it but probably not the full story.

My heart goes out to any parent going through this; almost all parents only want whats best for our kids and do the best we can with the sense we have.

if MN took over editorial control which is not happening there could be a case. And in many situations MN rules would follow the publish and be dammed theory to stop the responsibility falling back on MN to monitor and make a judgement call.

Children, by and large, don't need to be told the sex of people. They can see for themselves. Studies show even very young babies can tell the difference between male and female faces.

People like this are also exactly the same as those who failed to respond to the thousands of girls suffering rape, torture and horrific abuse at the hands of grooming gangs by placing ideology and sacred castes above the lives of children.
