Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

Her blog:

Here we are now: Entertain us
I have had now 7 years and counting of the various tactics used to 'silence' those who won't comply with prevailing orthodoxy. How are those tactics holding up?
https://sarahphillimore.substack.com/p/here-we-are-now-entertain-us?

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

Sarah Phillimore

Because I don’t tweet as a public body, an employer or provider of goods or services. I am not subject to the Equality Act. I tweet as a private individual and I will say again. You can’t change sex. A man cannot be a woman. I cannot be compelled to call a man a woman.

A trans identifying man such as ‘Kate’ who frequently takes to the public stage to urge violence against women and declare his intent to enter women’s spaces, is a dangerous man and one who will attract public comment.

Back in the day when the SWP owned a print shop, for several years they printed Militant, and there used to be a competition going to see who could get the most absurd reader's letter printed in Militant.

"I used to be a Conservative voter, but one night I bought a saveloy and chips wrapped in a copy of Militant, and as I was walking home eating my tasty dinner, I read Peter Taaffe's column on the British Crisis, and I suddenly realised that we need to nationalise the top 200 monopolies"

It would be terribly naughty for anyone to prank Jolyon in this way.

Hoaxing Maugham would be funny.

Maybe we could trick him into supporting some kind of fake awful abusive man who hates women and who lies about everything especially about the frequent complaints he make. Someone so outrageously terrible and unconvincing that it would make Maugham look like an absolute clown for supporting him and would destroy any legitimacy he has left. Then get him into a situation where the whole thing becomes public record so everyone could laugh at him.

Oh wait...

He's spent months trying to goad JKR into suing him. #FAFO, Jolyon.

yourhairiswinterfire · 05/09/2025 17:39

I wonder if he jabs his finger in the faces of women he looks down on IRL the way he does when he's snarling about them on camera. Looks like his head was literally vibrating with fury at the end of that video.

The man makes my flesh crawl.

Has he never heard of sunscreen? He gets more and more irrational every time he posts, someone needs to tell him to stop the finger wagging too.

He looks very silly in that video 😂

The fox killer is panicking. He has put up a whiny Instagram about how evil JKR is and how is going to defy SP and go to court. Watch for some laughs.

JM the guy you are supporting is an aggressive fetishist who hates women who is so daft they were pushed out of the Scottish Greens. We kept all the receipts the song about stamping on women etc. You are up against a reasonable sounding forthright disabled female barrister who has won many cases like this. You are GOING TO LOSE!

You might be scared of JKR, but the real problem for you is behind Sarah and JKR is an army of pesky women and sensible men who can spare a few quid to take down sexist losers who target women.

Not only are you going to be humiliated in court, but your defeat is going to fuel the ongoing battle to tell everyone biology is a thing. Without your incompetence the battle to take gender nonsense would be further off track.

Fair enough @SerendipityJane and my comment meant no disrespect to your post. I’m inundated with pronouns and being kind both at work (starting meetings, badges, emails, asking students to declare theirs etc) and, unfortunately, at home.

So my comment is a reaction to this barrister annoyingly also perpetuating the implication that nice respectful people use preferred pronouns without thinking through what doing so actually means. The subtext being if you don’t, you’re a meany. Possibly he means like SP.

The rest was interesting from a legal perspective so I appreciate the link as well as an example of how deep and widespread #bekind has been embedded.

👋

Occasionally there are some interesting nuances pointed out, in a generally agenda-free manner.

If you want to be annoyed, his mate the BlackBeltBarrister seems a little more shrill and his videos have rather OTT titles and can safely be ignored.

I've found that most days in about 2 minutes, I can scroll through my YT feed and by reading the titles be just as informed without watching a single video. Add to that the same time just scrolling down my FB feed and a smattering of moderated USENET posts, and 10 minutes sees me newsed up for the day.

One day we'll invent a machine that could do that for us.

I didn't realise he'd actually said 'anal leakage'! I thought it was a speech to text fail 😅

Must have done to have kept a copy.

Is there a term for legal mansplaining? The law bits were interesting but the sanctimonious ‘it’s only polite to call people what they want to be called’ shows up how spectacularly uninformed this bloke is on an key issue affecting women’s rights.

I'm quite surprised that he chose to lie about what JKR said, given that her actual words were visible on screen while he lied.
