GLP are going after Sarah Philmore and are going to lose

Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

I have had now 7 years and counting of the various tactics used to 'silence' those who won't comply with prevailing orthodoxy. How are those tactics holding up?

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

Because I don’t tweet as a public body, an employer or provider of goods or services. I am not subject to the Equality Act. I tweet as a private individual and I will say again. You can’t change sex. A man cannot be a woman. I cannot be compelled to call a man a woman.

A trans identifying man such as ‘Kate’ who frequently takes to the public stage to urge violence against women and declare his intent to enter women’s spaces, is a dangerous man and one who will attract public comment.

trans women exist as do trans men, gender fluid men and women. This will always be the case. Whether they are still men or still women and vice versa is a matter of opinion.

one thing is definitely true though - they will always exist and deserve equal respect and tolerance the same as everyone else. You can accept this or not but this isn’t going to change whether you like it or not

Yep I know. I'm glad we can agree on this: transwomen don't like being male do they, but it doesn't mean it isn't true cos reality / biology / law.

I empathise with your situation as it cannot be easy for either of you. But please try to understand things from his perspective. It must be even harder for him. I am not sure how old he is but at least allow him to dress and express himself as he wishes not doing so will just lead to further tensions and affect him.

hormones are a different matter but at 18 he will be an adult. Please try to understand and support him.

Around 95% of sex offenders are biologically male. The rate of sexual offences amongst the TIM prison population far exceeds that of the general male prison population. Perhaps government should come up with some way of segregating services based on biological sex?

If TERFs want mumsnet to continue to be an echo chamber and are unwilling or unable to be challenged then to be it. It’s healthy to be challenged. Only insecure people like Trump ( who ironically is also very anti trans like TERFs) do not like to be challenged. I’m simply pointing out my opinion is shared by most feminists. This is a fact

not one TERFs has addressed the issue or any question I’ve raised. Some people might say they don’t want to as it raises questions on their belief system and what it’s based on

Sammy, I have a son who is in danger of damaging his physical health because he thinks this will make him happier. This idea is insane, but many people have taken it on board. I am still open to reasoned arguments to explain why it is not actually an insane idea, but I've been looking for them for four years and non-one seems able to point me to them. In the meantime, I take what little humour I can find, some of it dark, from the absurdities and even typos I come across.

yes true but me we know overwhelmingly so not food random trans woman in a bathroom. You do know that more mothers were killed by their teenage sons in 2023 than by men they did not know? This is a fact. An oh none of those teenage sons were trans by the way 🙄

the TERF obsession with this is totally illogical.

Murasaki- what I do know is that if you think that most women support TERFs - they do not. If you think trans women or men in dresses calling themselves women are the real danger to women you seriously need your head examined.

But trans women are actually men. I don’t care how they wish to present themselves, but that’s the facts. Men are the real danger, always have been and always will be. Putting on a dress, taking hormones or having surgery cannot change your sex.
of course we all know namalt but I’d prefer not to take my chances.
