I had my suspicions when CNN kept referring to the shooter as ‘they’ and said as much to DH.

Lo and behold, a crossdressing man called ‘Robin’ (formerly Robert) Westman.

Why do you say you need to state that you're mixed race?
I can assure you that violent, religious people existed in the UK too. Violence imposed by white people on white people. Sometimes from Ireland but carried out here.
Many women have stories of how viscous Catholic Nuns were and just read their history of mother and baby homes.

It's getting a bit confusing have two threads on this topic on the same forum. Especially on my mobile. I posted similar comments on both and got this below. Emphasis added. You'll appreciate hopefully why my upset being called "performative" and "extreme." That's why I mentioned my race.

Yes I agree the actions of the Catholic Church at many points in history are barbaric and shocking. I am not Catholic any long, but I continue to find hate against Catholics especially children to be particularly upsetting. Note when I say my family has left a country because of religious / ethnic based hate it wasn't Ireland.

"I have strong criticisms of trans-identifying men, and I often find myself at odds with their presence in certain spaces. Yet, I also find the extreme reactions from some gender critical feminists of which I consider myself one to be overly performative and, at times, misdirected.

What stands out to me in the recent case of this shooter is not only his gender but also his race. It’s noteworthy how often discussions about male violence, especially in mass shootings, overlook the recurring factor of whiteness. Mainstream feminist discourse often fails to account for this. There’s a recurring pattern where the struggles of Black women are co-opted by white feminists to advance a broader agenda that doesn’t always benefit Black women themselve"

Hope that clarified and I wish we didn't have multiple threads on the same topic !

@Nichebitch we will not be gaslighted that this is a woman’s crime.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2025 17:19

Thanks @ForestAtTheSea

Calling a sick and twisted murderer a man, and commenting on news outlets refusing to call said murderer a man is not transphobia.

He IS a man. Telling outright lies about the sex of the bastard who shot those poor children, making it out to be a woman's crime - that's despicable. What HE did is unforgivable, and the fact the various news sources reporting on it either went straight to "she" or noticeably shifted their language to accommodate TRA speak instead of reporting clearly and accurately is horrid.

Using dead children to pile up on trans people indeed! Nope, we're just not allowing the waters to be muddied by having any insinuation that such an unspeakable crime against innocent children was done by a woman. At all.

ForestAtTheSea · 28/08/2025 17:09

The same guy has most pages of the manifesto, I saw them in various media but I can't dig too much right now as very time-intensive.
If anyone's interested:

Have you got a link?

Some guy has translated the diary. The person posting it says it's written English, but with Cyrillic letters. (I have not verified this):

according to news reports today, he didn’t want to be trans anymore, felt he’d brainwashed himself and wanted to cut his hair but felt unable to. This is the danger of affirming it.

Have you got a link?

This is the first I've heard about the shooter/killer being trans. I'm sure the BBC news yesterday talked about a gunman.

That's because there was no confirmation as to who the gunman was.

But once they got the name (and of course the special word), you could almost hear the pitter patter of frantic scurrying about in BBC News HQ to ensure any "he" was swiftly replaced. At absolute pains to avoid calling him a man.

@VoulezVouz I wrote about the Catholic / Church angle because I've also been reading trans rights activists, both formal and informal and I'm concerned with anti- Church rhetoric and general condoning of violent language of TRAs.

It's not because of this case but actual hate speech can lead to violence and why I posted. There's also been others of trans targeting churches and related institutions.

Someone seemed to be assuming we are all white. I'm fed up of popping up and saying I'm mixed race. In this case it is particularly egregious because my family left a country because of ethnic / religious violence.

Why do you say you need to state that you're mixed race?

You’re right it is not acceptable to target hyperbolic hatred on all trans people because of the actions of one trans person.

However, media coverage of the incident strenuously trying to cover up the fact that he was trans is also unacceptable. And it is a reasonable line of enquiry to wonder whether there was a connection between his genderist beliefs and his actions against a Church school, not least since there have been other incidents with similarities, as PP posted.

Anyone who thinks it is acceptable to shoot primary school children is seriously deluded. And trying to understand what leads people to do this necessitates examining their state of mind and beliefs, to try to prevent further such attacks. Their transness needs to be considered relevant to that examination, just as any other religious or political belief system or health condition would be.

And is often autism in disguise. Autism which can make a person feel outcast or that they are not fitting in hence often thinking they might be ‘trans’, and also making them susceptible to bad influences through on line groups who seem like friends.

ArmchairXpert · 28/08/2025 14:26

My DH also read somewhere that he was referred to as "the person" 🙄

The BBC News at 10 report referred to the ‘gunman’ and ‘he’ all the way through. If I hadn’t known about the trans element from another news source I wouldn’t have got it from the BBC. It makes me so irritated because I really want to be able to trust the BBC, with everything else on the internet being so unreliable now.

In one on line version they avoid using any pronoun but you could say they ‘outsource’ the truth:

Westman's name was legally changed from Robert to Robin in 2020, Minnesota court records show. In the application the judge wrote: "Minor child identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification."

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey pushed back against hatred directed towards the transgender community in the wake of the attack.

In their own updates, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Westman was a "man, claiming to be transgender", and in his post on X, FBI Director Kash Patel referred to Westman as "a male".

Mail Online, the biggest news site in the World, is using she in every article.
I think it's to enrage their readers to gain clicks and it's working.

To be fair, they also refer to ‘her’ as a ‘lunatic transgender assassin’ which is pretty accurate.

The video in this thread included a list at 9 mins approx. I have not checked that the list is correct or complete.

That is a scary list.

lcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2025 14:05

@SinnerBoy he has the long face common in tall men, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a lanky six foot or more. He'd look ridiculous trying to pass as a woman. Something he was probably aware of.

I'd bet every doubletake, every misgendering, every perceived slight was worried like a dog with bone. Possibly dissected on line with his community who would have fed his narcissistic sense of victimhood.

ScrollingLeaves · 28/08/2025 14:00

BeLemonNow · 27/08/2025 21:21

Fuck. It was distressing enough seeing a school shooting in a Catholic Church in the USA.

There's a fair amount of anti- Catholicism in transgender community. When are they going to condemn such hate? It must play some role.

For those wondering if it's been verified they are trans, there's a substantial mix of pronouns used across the press.

Read the BBC link a few posts above.
He was ‘trans’ even as a minor.

Bbc still using She on their website

Complaint going in!

I've done the same. All the "they" and "them" and referring to him by surname to avoid saying the thing we know they want to avoid is predictable ol' BBC. But "she"? No, absolutely not, they can fuck right off with that.

That most mass shooters have mental health issues - something which, by definition, I don't think any rational person can argue with - is not the question though, is it?

Your assertion that, since most mass shooters have MH issues, any group or individual you personally believe to have MH issues must therefore be a potential mass shooter is logically fallacious at best and an intentional attempt to subvert the narrative at worst.

For the record, some people who identify as trans may have MH issues, but it does not follow that all trans people do; however much you desperately want them to in order to provide you with justification for your delusion.

The delusion is yours. The TRA “community” is known for wishing violence on other people. Check it out anywhere where they feel “safe” in these views.
