Seen this on a number of threads on facebook, and wondered if it was true?

Jesus Christ: three of you on this thread. So transparent. Get a hobby.

What the fuck is that supposed to mean?

Excuse me? I've been on MN the best part of 2 decades and I'm expressing my genuinely held views. How am I trolling?

If you think I'm a troll, please do go ahead and report me to MN.

Well done you. Your posts on this thread make no sense.

I lost the link to this thread but have refound it and feel a bit guilty starting a thread without double checking the facts. Just like twitter also check a facebook post against others.

So the title I gave to this thread is (I think wrong but could also be true?) but seems to have come from KJK supporting Julia Beck who has been "no platformed".

Not surprising really as AGCL, having tried to enforce such a strict purity line on WPUK that they just stopped, are now well entrenched in FiLia. But the vendetta continues.

So really it is the same old attack on the women they are always going after.

This is her facebook post, well at least the start of it:

This year I was invited by a fellow lesbian feminist to help organize a workshop at FiLiA on compulsory heterosexuality. Now I learn that FiLiA cannot allow me to be a part of this workshop, because in 2019 I spoke at the Heritage Foundation. The argument goes that FiLiA has taken a clear anti-racist stance, and my participation as a speaker would endanger FiLiA's anti-racist stance in Brighton, where the political climate is difficult, because I have failed to publicly distance myself from the Heritage Foundation. Unfortunately I haven't broadcasted any political views - or any change in political views, for that matter - in the public domain proving beyond a doubt that my political views are actually anti-racist and anti-right. To my (ignorant) surprise, I am still enough of a public figure to be dis-invited from speaking on feminist platforms. So let me shout into the void what is now likely an overdue public statement, as The Public Figure Julia Beck.

So in fact stretches back past the Elephant workshop thread on FWR to the fall out when some UK feminist went to support US feminists who shared a stage with the Heritage Foundation.

Question?

Should I ask MNHQ to change thread title?

Is it okay to reproduce all facebook post.

Sorry for not fact checking Blush

Saw Julia's post on FB. KJK just highlighted it in an obtuse way on X. Also in reference to Sheila Jefferies and Fiona McAnena's (Sex Matters) book. That's apparently led to a side event in Brighton at the same time as Filia. 🤷‍♀️

I don't think there is any need to change the title.

Is Claire still running FiLiA? If so, I can see why some women are pissed.

I remember exactly why some GC feminists dont like her. It started because she said she doesn't like to see young school girls in a hijab. I think primary school girls.

Sigh.

My point on this, if you read back, is that both left and right have a misogyny problem, and it's not correct to say the left are fully for self-ID. Plenty of the left are not. Plenty of the right wing are.

It's why women have had to come together to work cross-party on this.

And yet all Labour MSPs voted for it, as did all Greens and Lib Dem’s, and all but two Conservatives MSPs voted against and one of the two who voted for has since switched to the Lib Dems.

(Fortunately the Conservative government then stepped in to stop it)

Please don't belittle all the work, money, time and sacrifices women here put into standing against Self ID, I'm ordering to pretend the Tories are to be congratulated for Self ID being quashed.

It took a huge amount of effort from women from all sides of the political spectrum to get to that point.

It wasn't introduced because of the work women did, including many MNers, to oppose it. The Tories thought it would go through easily.

If you are on facebook the comments to this statement are really good and interesting raising lots of points.

And the fact that WDI are having an "alternative"(?) or side meeting around the corner from FiLia. Have now fact checked.

It is about another "excluded" speaker from a previous FiLia https://womensdeclarationinternational.telltix.com/events/womensdeclarationinternational/1738199 called excluded but silenced

Holidayholiday2025 it is quite clear you do agree with Trump that ‘gender affirming’ mastectomies for children should be banned. It is also quite clear that you have been desperately trying to avoid saying so because you know such an agreement is exactly the sort of statement you use to make spurious accusations that others are ‘far right’ or ‘supporting rapists’.

FILIA are certainly GC. You can dislike them for other reasons, but surely you don't think they believe men are women?

Ok. Well as a sex realist I can’t support Labour and it sounds like these people do. It’s not a ‘one issue’ 🙄 thing, women’s rights cover many other issues as everyone on here understands.

If Labour got their way, and the SC had ruled that sex isn’t necessarily biological sex (as Aus has done, essentially), then women as a group don’t exist in the eyes of the law.

Which is catastrophic for women’s rights, and thank god the SC confirmed that (though the fact they needed to confirm biological fact in the first place..).

So no a group that supports Labour, does not support women’s rights because for Labour, women don’t really exist, do we.

But as I said, having not been before I’m going from what I’ve read about it. You could say go then, and find out for yourself… perhaps so.

I mean the consulation on the reforms to the GRA Recognition Act, intended to reform the original GRA to allow self-ID and which basically kicked off the GC movement in earnest.

That was in 2018 and under Theresa May.

And after a consultation, self id for a GRC wasnt introduced. (Although a GRC is self id really, given how few people are refused and there's no limit to the number of times someone can apply. And that was written into the orginal act)

The Conservatives did reduce the cost, though.

It wasn't introduced because of the work women did, including many MNers, to oppose it. The Tories thought it would go through easily.

Anyway, I have to spend some time actually mothering and not debating the toss on here.

Hopefully some women will start to see KJK isn't the hero she makes herself out to be.

I can't believe more women aren't more outraged by her using MN to crowdfund money for a refuge, not creating said refuge and then not donating all of that money. (Or at least if she did, she's never said where it all went).

I don't like to be taken for a mug!

Based on your GRA comment, that I have responded to, and you here shifting goal posts without any evidence to this claim about KJK and Tommy Robinson, it's clear you're not here in good faith and stirring so I'm out. If you'd like to share evidence that KJK's alleged support of Tommy Robinson led to WPUK's statement, happy to re-engage and discuss.

I remember it being discussed here as evidence of KJK's islamophobia at the time. I can't prove that it was included in the "several tweets" that WPUK refer to, but it was certainly mentioned here. You can find her old tweets if you google.

But this is splitting hairs. KJK posted Islamophobic tweets, that's the point. What difference does that make if she expressed that through tweeting about TR or other tweets?

Either way, WPUK are within their rights to not want to have her at one of their events if they don't want to.

This is ridiculous. Trump is a fascist. To have feminists championing him is ridicuous. He is no friend of women.

So you do agree with him on banning ‘gender affirming’ mastectomies on children?

Make up your mind.

Thanks for sharing. In that, they say:

"In May 2018, we became aware of several tweets by KJK that made pejorative comments about Muslim communities. We believed these tweets would contribute to a hostile environment for people from minoritised communities."

Thanks for sharing. I've googled and there is a tweet in which she mentions Tommy Robinson. They may not have singled out that tweet, but I remember it being mentioned here at the time. It's not outright support, but it's a more snide "I don't support him but I don't see what he did wrong" kind of thing. On its own, could just be naive. With the other things she's posted then and since, she's racist.

Racism is on the rise in this country - surely you can see it? If we don't stand against it, we're headed for troubling times. And racists don't have a good record on women's rights!

Weirdly, I was thinking about this subject earlier today.

I was trying to unpick whether I’ve caught myself in a purity spiral as far as KJK is concerned. (I was discussing feminism and trans rights with DP).

I agree we don’t have to share all opinions and values. Feminists on the right and the left should be equally welcome, even if they don’t agree on the path.

But is there ever a point where other views become so problematic that it’s not a purity spiral to stop feeling ok with being aligned?

I struggled with KJK’s fangirling of Trump because he actively harms women in multiple ways. No issues with someone being a Republican or Conservative but to actively and repeatedly praise an individual that’s so deeply misogynistic is hard to reconcile with believing in women’s rights.

And I don’t believe that she gives all women a platform - she’s incredibly spiteful about any woman who doesn’t share her right-wing views.

So it feels as if although she did amazing work early doors, she’s now more of a political mouthpiece for the right - and if she’s a Tommy Robinson supporter as PP says, then that really is pretty unpleasant stuff she’s endorsing.

I’m autistic so sometimes grapple with nuance. I’m naturally left wing but follow both left and (some) right wing accounts as I think an echo chamber isn’t helpful and I like to challenge myself.

KJK reminds a little of the unlucky anti -racist Corbyn, who was forever finding himself as the same room as holocaust deniers.
