If you weren't male though you wouldn't get compliments when you went out. This isn't something most women experience regularly!

Cross dressers ended up being co-opted by stonewall in to there rush to define everyone as trans, and as with various other groups got forgotten, pushed to the back and then dismissed once stonewall and TRAs realised that there was no gain to including them in the group.

It is somewhat ammusing to see that the most vocal have been TiMs, Fetishists, and drag queens.

But I would agree that in the current climate of obsession with transwomen the mere crossdressers have been forgotten about. If a little boy wants to wear a dress maybe he just wants to wear a dress - but society seems to want to make it easier for him to identify as a girl and even live as one. People should stop assuming we are on a journey to imagined womanhood - most crossdressers are very happy being male, as I am.

This is the same for women who dress 'butch' to be fair. It infuriates me.

Oh, that reminds me of someone I saw in a docu about recycling/upcycling (he wasn't in it because he wore a skirt, but because he used to be an electrician and was helping a friend to build a smoking box for fishes from scrap).
He was an artist, had a studio in a village and built and presented his work there. His style of dress was pretty much like that of Sebastiaan, but more colourful, black with stylized flowers on it. Also wore black leggings with his knee lenghth skirt and (male) sandals (it was autumn when they filmed). Short male haircut, no beard, no makeup.
I didn't record it back then, but I should have, just to be able to refer or quote it (haven't been able to find the title or maker of the docu)

He's pattern cut them to fit and suit his body, so they fit him properly. I think a lot of why cross-dressers tend to look weird is because their clothes don't fit.

I agree with @GoldenGate Pushing boundaries of fashion should be no big deal, and it is after all how women changed expectations in clothing and beyond (defying the "norms"). Men claiming to be women or demanding access to reserved spaces is where the line is crossed.

I've recently noticed a few men wearing skirts without any attempt to look like a woman. Think typical man in jeans but replace with knee length skirt and tights, and nice UGG boots in one case. Would they be termed trans, transvestites, or just non conforming men? Don't buy heavy deniers in supermarket own-brand or otherwise cheap makes because they itch and itch.

I wonder how much is clothing envy? As in, women get the colourful outfits whilst men get Yet Another Grey Suit.

Why do they dress like their wives? Or why did they marry women who look like their fetish?

It’s the elephant in the room really - until the trans community are open about the fetish aspect and call it out for what it is, they’re going to continue to struggle hugely with their PR.

@RogueFemale I didn't get the impression that he saw many or possibly any women at his gender dysphoria clinic! So do you think that cross dressing is always a sexual fetish? And why do you think so many cross dressing men dress to look like their mothers or (let's face it) their wives?

I prefer thermal leggings. M&s have them for about £15 and worn with my walking boots they look just like tights and I can wear them under a tunic.
Or the range do heat holder tights. They're not bad either.

If this isn't a male sexual fetish, where are all the disturbed women dressing up as their fathers?
