What nurses have to put up with. His poor wife (although that word's not used*), his poor kids

I'm a non-binary parent but have had to accept being called 'Daddy' | Metro News https://share.google/CdGfmxVnizOeyxBbe

Admittedly, when we arrived at the delivery suite on Tuesday night I did tell the lead midwife that my pronouns are they/them

Of course he did.

The whole article is worth a read, simultaneously hilarious, jawdropping and troubling. I thought he could put it on stage at the next Fringe, it'd bring the house down. It's hard to believe it wasn't ghost written by Glinner as a pisstake.

*hopefully they're not married °so leaving this self obsessed bloke will be easier.

°how would that go anyway? 'I now pronoun you wife and....erm!'

I'm a non-binary parent but have had to accept being called 'Daddy'

I wish that society could be more inclusive towards trans and non-binary folks especially as it pertains to parenthood.

Well, we can tell he's male by the sheer solipsism. No mother would have all that time for such tedious wanking over their identity.

hm, not sure about that - surely you’ve not forgotten Freddy? (Writes for the guardian, had one of the failed genderist court cases iirc re wanting to be officially the father rather than the mother of their child).

Its getting a right old roasting here!

His wife has just given birth to twins but his only focus is his pronouns.

Iamnotalemming · 26/08/2025 13:13

Also, his poor kids... I hope they grow up with strong eye rolls.

Iamnotalemming · 26/08/2025 13:12

I like how he assumed that the term birthing partner was used in the antenatal class to make people like him feel included, and not because some of the mothers might have brought a friend or their own Mum along to support them instead of the father. The blind spot is a real giveaway.

Just at the point where there is a beautiful opportunity to show that it isn't all about you, but in fact about the little life you have helped create...

..with your sperm from your male body.

I’m hoping this is a parody…

Shmoigel · 26/08/2025 13:06

Can you imagine being the midwife who delivered the neonatal twins, thinking they did a lovely job and bonded with the couple really well, only to read an entire article of self serving drivel written by this asshat! The fact that he uses the words "table my feelings" tells me everything I need to know!

AlexandraLeaving · 26/08/2025 13:04

Thelnebriati · 26/08/2025 11:57

In ante natal classes they explained that midwife care is woman centered, and the role of the birthing partner is to support the woman giving birth. Do they not do that bit any more?

If they do, it’s clear not everyone listens…

Nobody bothered to think about what my pink hair meant when my newborn twins were receiving hospital care 🥺

Poor lad.

The struggle is real. The genderqueer are a very oppressed group.

Luckily, and very appropriately, when I had my hysterectomy one of the first things I was asked when I arrived on the ward was whether my gender was male or female. And naturally I managed to not be in the slightest bit sarcastic.

😦 Me me me me me.

So his twins were in a neonatal unit and he was more concerned that he was being called Daddy.

I wish he would appreciate that the title Daddy is an honour and not one that everyone gets to have or deserves to have!

That isn't what the article says.

I thought this had to be satire when talked about calling himself Baba but decided not to as it would be cultural appropriation

It really does read like a satirisation of The Right Side of History doesn't it!

Bloody wally. Of course he is the Father/Daddy. What a load of coswallop.

Highlandhardrain · 26/08/2025 12:48

Lol. Agree, it definitely reads as satire.

You don’t need the headline, the pink hair gives it away.

And some woman seriously got pregnant by this twat?!

How did they know who would give the sperm and who would carry the babies in utero? It's most perplexing.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 26/08/2025 12:41

I loved this so much. The stoicism to put aside their discomfort at the othering of NB people whilst their partner gives birth to twins is just perfect. Also the various references to sleep deprivation and exhaustion simply from having to support a woman having two babies AND battle ignorance at the same time. Brilliant.

NorthSouthEast · 26/08/2025 12:39

So many eye rolls needed!

”As an assigned male at birth (AMAB) non-binary person, being referred to as ‘the dad’ or ‘daddy’ – which are clearly masculine-gendered terms – didn’t fit with my gender identity. ”

I wonder how he coped with the gendered trauma of (presumably) impregnating his female partner with his male sperm using his male penis…

Shortshriftandlethal · 26/08/2025 12:37

GCAcademic · 26/08/2025 11:53

I think this is perhaps the result of a child-centred upbringing where, additionally, the child must never be told "no" of that they might be wrong. Solipsism plus unwavering certainty in the importance and truth of whatever nonsense you come up with.

Yes, and where 'feelings' must be centred at every turn.

Plus, lockdown accelerated nascent mental health issues in many and enabled an excessive introspection and isolation to take hold.

So depressing, they really do walk among us.

LoudlyProudlyHorrid · 26/08/2025 12:31

My teen daughter has occasionally had a go at calling me "dude", like she does with her friends, male and female
