No. I’ve been in correspondence with them about a session on trans widows and children of transitioners for several years, and was turned down for a different reason each time. This year they’ve arranged one without me, and the first thing I knew was when it was announced.

It betrays poor judgement on the part of the organisers that they invited this person to speak. If you read the links I posted you might understand why I object so strongly to her presence and why I don't think she should be allowed to use the gender wars to whitewash her reputation. People lost their children because of her and her partner - and by people I mean working class women and men.

I admire you Washing. I want to wear whatever I want and feel safe. I thought I was beyond having my clothing policed. But I do feel unnerved.

I'm glad there is a police presence. Although I think it's ridiculous we need them.

The women’s movement is a broad, grassroots movement and there will be factions and disagreements.

Women are socialised to find conflict difficult. But we all need to understand that we’re all on the same big team ultimately - we all want to liberate women to live their best lives.

Oh, and smash the patriarchy before breakfast.

“We’re all on the same side” always seems to be used when the grassroots are being pressured not to criticise decisions of the elite.

I just arrived. The protesters aren’t as bad as I expected. Maybe 20 of them shouting, and about the same number of police. They have smashed a couple of windows and sprayed a lot of paint though.

It’s making me look forward to walking past the ragged pack that’s likely to “protest” about women gathering to talk about their rights, learn about the position of women across the world, and celebrate our culture.

I’ll be laughing at the pathetic losers who can’t make a decent argument and so throw bricks instead.

If your first thought when you hear the phrase “women’s rights” is to call it “transphobia “ then you’re a bigot.

Have worked out how you might spot me tomorrow. I‘m on registration. Hair col is obvs, I wear glasses and I have two wristbands - one on each wrist, rather than on same arm (cos I was busy chatting while registering today) . So if a Mumsnetter ends up on my desk say hello

I don’t know the venue (or Brighton) for that matter but I assume it’ll be easy to coordinate when we’re there 🤞
