I don't think the BBC has asked a drag queen for an opinion on Brewdog, its beers or its travails.

What a load of performative bolleaux. I went to uni in Nottingham back in the dark ages and it was a small c conservative place (went on a free Mandela march and there were more police than protesters). But my L&G friends (as it was then) said it was no worse or better than any other UK city for them.

Of course trans people should be able to browse and shop in peace just like everyone else. I can’t think anyone in their right mind would think any different. But by actively encouraging men into women’s single sex spaces they are signalling who they think are the most important customers. And it’s not necessarily the ones with the most disposable income.

i tell you what would impress me about a retail business - if they actively made their shop access, layout and changing rooms disabled friendly so people with a visual impairment and a guide dog or wheelchair users for example, could have the same “retail experience” as the rest of us. I am neither but even I can see little things could make a big difference. Like when I took mum shopping in M&S they had a chair by the customer services desk in the food hall so she was able to sit while they dealt with her click and collect. Such a small thing but mum always mentioned how nice it was.

Apart from the 🙄about the appropriation of the term 'sanctuary cities', it's interesting to see what is the main item? only item? on the agenda:

Every trans campaign seems to boil down to 'We want to pee in the women's toilet'
So 'sanctuary for transgender people' = toilets. Again. Maybe that's what the T in LGBT really stands for

Women campaign for women-only spaces in general - hospital wards, prisons, rape crisis centres, changing rooms - but trans activists seem obsessed with toilets. Women's toilets, in particular, and wanting to pee in them.

All these businesses have signed up to this statement
"We respect your right to use whichever facility you feel safest and most comfortable in."
which not only deliberately contravenes the EA as reasserted by the SC, but also gives able-bodied people carte blanche to use the accessible toilets, which exist thanks to decades and decades of campaigning by disabled people.

Another great example of how 'trans inclusivity' is exclusive of other people's rights.

For someone who sounds like they have limited mobility taking oestrogen is worrying - increases the risk of blood clots (which will already be higher due to reduced mobility).

Oh dear! I assumed some of these businesses would know better. I’d be interested to see what happens to complete allyship if one of the 100 was to be sued.

I see they mention that it’s not legal advice, but it would be very easy to miss that bit.

It’s ’more than alleyship’. It would be great if it was just that they wo t discriminate against trans people. I think that’s something that everyone wants but it isn’t just that apparently. That’s something they want to make very clear.

Interesting seeing businesses openly stating that they'll defy the law and discriminate against women by allowing men to share changing rooms, toilets etc.
Tanya de Grunwald (an HR commentator) has some excellent podcasts exploring this and looking at why HR has generally lost the plot and have been encouraging businesses to behave in a way that causes actual harm to themselves by pandering to trans extremism. One example with Maya F here:

I don’t quite get what the campaign actually is though. ‘Your spaces too’ just sounds like establishments won’t discriminate against trans people (rightly so), but I don’t think it follows it anyway that they’ll be breaking any laws.

Just as an aside on the topic of the ‘Rainbow Quarter’, I note there are several brands in Hockley that aren’t on the list. How do they feel about being considered a ‘rainbow’ venue on virtual of their location? Did anyone ask them I wonder? I seem to recall Sexy Mamas got in some hot bother a couple of years ago when the owner said trans women are men (or something to that effect). They cant be the only brand not thrilled about being forced included.

There are some national chains on that list, including Brewdog, Pitcher and Piano and Broadway cinemas.

No. Lucy and Yak do not make clothes for people who shop in economically and socially deprived areas of the UK.

Do Lucy and Yak exist beyond the city centre limits of a select number of cities? Do they deliver to places beyond the likes of Didsbury? Like Grimsby?

For some reason I thought Lucy and Yak was a pet food company, perhaps because yak is approximately the sound my cats make when they throw up.
