Have you noticed this new trend; Monsoon and Tickle are trying their very best to look like JKR and Sall Grover?!

Newspapers were never free though, before the internet. Unless you went to the library, which you can still do.

Expecting free news is part of the problem, it means there isn't the cash to pay for real journalism.

That being said, as someone who went to university where there was a journalism school, the vast majority of them were middle class kids from professional families, most didn't want to cover hard news, and they almost all wanted to be activists. In fact the one I knew who did like hard news, and wasn't that interested in activism, is now working for the national broadcaster (not BBC) in a management role.

HMP New Hall is a women's prison. It also holds young offenders, I'm assuming both sexes, but 31 seems a tad old for that category. I hope it's just an unfortunate photograph.

And none of them can see the hypocrisy in their statements.

JK used a gender neutral author name because, especially at the time, publishing was a male dominated industry. She essentially had to hide the fact that she was a woman in order to have access to the same opportunities as men.

This is a sign of the misogyny that women face and have always faced. It has nothing to do with 'gender' or 'identity' and everything to do with discrimination on the basis of sex - which is the exact same thing that JK is fighting against to this day!

She's not a hypocrite. She's actually very consistent.

The Independent doesn't have a print version any more. So I don't think it even fits the descriptor of "newspaper", it's just a website. Like BuzzFeed, or Penis Pink News.

The online version of most ‘newspapers’ are appalling, full of content to get the clicks. And, seemingly, most of not written by actual journalists. And Pink News doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of the word eviscerate, based on that headline above. It’s one of the reasons why I still quite like a print version, you can avoid the ridiculous fluff for the most part.

We could say that about other publications too (I can't bring myself to call them newspapers), most notably The Guardian, which used to be a brilliant newspaper back in the days of James Cameron, Jill Tweedie, Nancy Banks Smith, Mary Stott et al.

Clickbait. But you clicked and shared, and we even have a link to the original article, so pretty good journalism from a financial point of view.

The Independent taught me that hyperbole is what passes for journalism on their site. 'Hilarious' will be, at best, faintly amusing. Shit rag nowadays. So many ads crowding the screen it's barely readable and click bait in lieu of interesting articles.
