Anyone who wants to have a thread criticising Reform is perfectly free to start a thread criticising Reform. And I'm sure there's plenty there to criticise - people I know who are actually in Reform are quite happy to talk about where it's lacking.

But we never seem to get that. The pattern seems to be that we criticise Labour and that attracts posters who feel they need to deploy the Big Waggy Finger. Funny that.

Except we are talking about that.

Trying to frame people who post here as 'extreme right' is so 'done' and so tedious.

Maybe they are framing it as a freedom/free speech issue?

Note though it is irritating that a bunch of Labour MPs holds these views note they don't actually care that much to do anything.

Most of these people have not even got involved in the various motions and debates in Parliament since April. The number MPs inside Labour that will act on gender stuff is not huge now unlike in the Greens. If they do act is through stuff like committees. So we need keep pressure on and monitor them for sure, but remember we are gaining ground.

Also remember lot of MPs might say "nice" things in public, but secretly are happy that reality has returned. They are too cowardly to do much, but they are are secretly going to sideline gender stuff.

It seems that Farage has now confirmed that a case by case risk assessment of men is Reform policy. Why tf would they adopt this policy?

A lot of people are going to vote Reform. A lot of people voted for Brexit. Doesnt mean they're not both a load of sh*te.

Well, I don't know. Lots of people have been very anxious to believe that the problems with Labour have been sorted out. That's far from the case, and Starmer will only do the rational thing if a judge, or Tony Blair, tells him to.

I laughed like a drain at the Reform statement. If I were Keir Starmer I would have a glass of wine tonight. I guess it’s not surprising that much of Reform is living in 2016.

You only get suspended if you vote against cuts. It's deeply weird.

Reform is full of loose canons who all have their own take on things and will inevitably say what they think...which will cause issues for the party going forward if everyone is going off message.

Put those things together, and it's a bit like having 100 Jolyon Maughams in the Parliamentary Labour Party.

Well that would explain a few things about Labours dismal performance in power over the last year or so.

I think we will all be looking a little closer at the bat shit statements next time and watching the reverse ferret move being adopted by some.

Once politicians have had a taste of parliamentary lifestyle they tend to want to stay in.

Sure, there are vile women, otherwise they wouldn't be in jail. But the wording here is trying to paint an image that makes both groups equal, thus they could be in the same place.
You could also say: there are equally vile men as women, but of course that's not said. Additionally, the numbers in the prison statistics tell that the actual numbers are very unequal and the reasons why women are in jail have a lot less to do with physical assault and murder than for men.

Can't find it right now but recently I came across an excerpt of a wishlist that prisoners could tick, and TW could request make-up and other stuff that women couldn't request. It was a UK prison, maybe anyone else remember it?

I think there are 2 types of people who don't want men in women's prisons - GC feminists, who likely won't vote for Reform, but a much larger group of regular people who haven't massively thought about the issue, but know reflexively that it's wrong.

I would imagine the latter group would be quite inclined towards Reform. It's certainly the experience I've had chatting to people near me (Northern red wall territory).

Farage's main concern has been to keep out the Tommy Robinson fans. He's been fairly successful in that.

The flip side is, they've got a bunch of people with business backgrounds who are all a bit headstrong and think you can snap your fingers and make things happen. These people don't know politics doesn't work like that. They might learn - Tice has improved a lot compared to where he was five years ago - but it will still be a culture shock.

Reform don’t know what they stand for. If they get into government I suspect Farage will find he is herding cats. He will basically have a government made up of independent MPs and no one will know which way they will vote on any issue.

Perhaps they've realised that's never going to happen. Interesting to see Labour and Reform aligning on certain issues though. Perhaps they will form a coalition when Labour lose their majority in 4 years time.

I have no objection to common courtesy even if it means suspending my own personal disbelief. I am more than happy to use preferred pronouns and whatever if a trans person is doing no harm but if they are using that identity as a means to enter women's spaces then that 'courtesy' goes out the window. Furthermore, if trans people think they can enshrine that 'courtesy' into law and force people to recognise their identity then they really can fuck right off.

Wow! I thought Reform were trying to get the GC vote.
