I agree, and I completely understand that. But there's no need for any of this to be in the public eye at all. All you have to say is "I support my child, but I want to keep my private life private". And that would be that.

It's a whole different ballgame to start buying into the trans oppression narrative, which paints all women who dissent as evil transphobic terfs. JLC is using her fame and influence to spread this nonsense, and it's so disingenuous. She's a woman. Objectively, she must see that the terfs have a point. Nor can she be blind to the elements influencing her son's transition. She will be more aware of his personal history than anyone - and the fetish aspect of it all is blatant. She cannot live in such a complete state of cognitive dissonance. But she chooses to ignore the red flags and push the bullshit instead.

I understand she has probably done the typical Hollywood thing of handing over the kids to nannies most of their young lives, and that some of her behaviour now stems from guilt. She's overcompensating. But I can't respect that either.

Really, I'm not left with much about JLC I can respect. As a result, I'm not particularly interested in listening to her talk.

I have no idea whether it is true but the very widely circulated internet rumour is that JLC is intersex. It stems from an interview and photo with her parents when she was born where the baby is called James in the article and referred to as he.

Might all be complete internet bollocks but it would impact on her view of this sort of topic.

I am convinced now that extreme body modification is becoming mainstream.

I know of three young women having their healthy breasts removed purely from personal choice. Two are friends of the family and one is a close family member who identifies as non binary.

It's incredibly sad but no longer shocking to me. They seem to be excited about it and look at it the same as having a permanent tattoo. The attitude seems to be yes, they might regret it but they can get it modified again later.

Also, I'm not willing to criticize a parent for supporting their child. I don't really see that her supporting her child means that she needs to keep silent about the nonsense about plastic surgery.

To be fair to her, she has never really had pretty privilege in the way that Margot Robbie or Angelina Jolie have. I doubt her looks would have opened doors on their own. I would say she benefited far more from nepotism than from being beautiful.

Tom still identified as male at 16 but went into therapy after questioning his identity/a trans friend asking. Therapy wasn't great. He'd had a gay relationship but identifies as bi and is now married.

Kudos, I guess, to JLC for joining in with the costumes/dress-up but - and I'm going to be furryphobic here - I'd say trans is the least of her issues if her child is wearing a cat collar round the house. I'd embrace the former rather than the latter. Miaow.

JLC is doing this to detract from what she did posting a picture of Palestinian children thinking they were Israeli. She deleted it when she realised they were actually Palestinian kids. Her sympathy only extends to isreali kids. She compared the wild fires in california to Gaza.
She has been actively calling plastic surgery genocide so when you Google it, her previous evilness is buried.

He is adopted, which is one of the high risk co issues for being trans. I have two adopted children, both adults now. Mother / child relationships can be very complicated in adoption and I suspect that she treads carefully for a reason.

JLC annoys me. Her son is a classic AGP, and she's aggressive in her support. I appreciate it's not an easy position for any parent to be in, but there's a line. There's a point at which it goes beyond trying to keep the peace with your child, and becomes flat-out shilling for the cult and bullying other women. JLC crossed that line a few years ago, and I haven't been able to respect her since.

Someone once gave me the very wise advice, if you like Stevie Nicks as a musician, don't follow her social media because she is so up herself it will put you off ever listening to her again.

I think that follows for lots of entertainers. They become successful because they have charisma and, usually, striking looks. They're not deep thinkers. I still have a lot of affection for JLC based on her classic acting roles. I'm not sure that would survive much exposure to her Bluesky, of which the most you can say is that she's not as insane as Mark Hamill.

JLC was gorgeous when she was younger, but to be fair to her, she doesn’t have much vanity as she’s getting older (mostly) naturally. she’s got plenty of natural lines on her face and she could afford to do a Demi Moore, but hasn’t. She comes from a nuts family background so it’s totally unsurprising that she’s embracing the trans child with gusto.

I struggle with JLC since she became a vociferous TRA - only for her darling child btw, not seeing her being vocal for Lia Thomas retaining their medals.

I don't know, just strikes me as an a-hole, I have a friend who has been the same since their son started to dress in women's clothes. Better attack everyone else rather than wonder what is at the root of their child's obsession.

I agree that plastic surgery holds more dangers than are being discussed.

PS I don’t think JLC’s performance as Donna Berzatto is particularly good, whereas her performance as Wanda is a standout turn of the 80s.

Oh that’s a good interview, though I agree it sounds like hard work, which I’m sure interviewing is. And I wouldn’t agree that she’s glossing over the trans issue; I think she is refusing consistently to speak for other people, which in sleb interviews is one of the reliable ways to goad the interviewee into providing headlines. I’d take her statement as consistent - that having the kind of surgery to ‘fix’ your appearance that has been aggressively promoted to everyone for a range of purposes for about 80 years is a mug’s game. And there I can 100% agree with her.

Lucky you, she's a very fine looking woman. She was very defensive about the privilege that brings in the interview.

I feel conflicted about this , i was against plastic surgery, age gracefully etc, but then I had an eye operation for medical reasons, to improve my vision , it also gave me something of an eye lid lift. Honestly the results are great, I can wear eyeshadow now. I honestly think in retrospect that a bit of surgery if it Makes you feel better is fine.
