Eliot Page; a positive example of masculinity?

I shared this news story in a group whatsapp and my year 8 daughter just told me that the same thing happened in her assembly recently.

I mean, this is batshit insanity and totally goes against what the Cass review states.

It’s out and out grooming. Clearly Page is an example of something other than positivity, whenever I see them being interviewed , they seem deeply depressed and miserable.

Are any of the boys in her school going to see Page as a man? Are any of the girls going to see it and wonder if their clothes choices and hairstyle mean they’re also a man? Why are schools still pumping out this unhealthy rhetoric for young teens? It’s insane.

School uses trans actor Elliot Page as positive example of masculinity

The actor, who now identifies as a man after medically transitioning with cross-sex hormones and surgery, featured in a lesson about how masculinity can take multiple forms.

”So called “preferred pronouns” introduce a cognitive disruption into those who use them, this disruption dissociates us from our direct sense perceptions of reality. Coercing others to deny their own instinctual responses is harmful. It is a form of perceptual control of others and external validation seeking. It reveals underlying emotional instability in those who demand it”

Demanding, even through social pressure for politeness, female language be used for male people can be harmful at an individual level and has been shown to be harmful
for female people collectively.

I think we all know what many women were, and all over the world still are today, "recruited" for by armies.

But in Gender-land I guess they think forced "wives" and "comfort women" are taken because they exhibit a collection of behaviours socially associated with femininity 🙄

Isn't the height requirement 5 foot for the army and no requirement for the police

It's weird isn't it.

Role models are supposed to be inspiring. "Here's what someone you identify with achieved - so you can too!"

I'm not sure who EP is meant to inspire here. EP is hardly doing anything new or unusual in her male persona to make her a male role model for boys and men. Other trans identifying women maybe?

I know this maybe a shock for those that subscribe to cringy petty bigoted sniping as a form of inspiration, but he's having to remain true to himself in the face of monumental public social rejection, relentless dehumanisation & demonisation for starters. That's the epitome of courage & strength which certainly has 'Jesus' vibe to it. Quite impressive.

How does pandering to others' delusions help social cohesion? It's not something which has historically been seen as helping either the sufferer or society in general.

OMG.

Since when is politeness pandering to delusions? The same way its not pandering to a delusion to say please or thank you or be civil to an arsehole waiter is the same way its not pandering to a delusion to use preferred pronouns. YOU AREN'T BE ASKED TO BELIEVE ANYTHING only be civil.

Do you have an idea how bonkers this sounds? Clearly not.

I notice how we're on ambiguous terms like "masculinity" instead of male. People trying not to refer to Ellen Page as a male role model, but a masculine role model.

It's interesting that the media/fashion etc love Ellen Page as this boyish entity, it's rather suspicious that they like her more than a proper masculine man (like David Gandy etc) to model, act etc. They seem to like people who look like boys rather than men.

I’m always very sad when I see Eliot. It’s not a positive story. Eliot looks very feminine and definitely seems depressed and miserable in interviews. But to be honest I wouldn’t be happy about any transition story being pushed in school. It’s totally inappropriate for impressionable young people. It’s refreshing to hear that your DD thinks it’s a load of old nonsense.

I didnt know this story and presumed the photo is of a feminine woman (as in, she has delicate female features). This story sounds very confusing.

What do you believe is the benefit to society of people being polite about others' delusions? What is the benefit for the person suffering from the delusion? What is the benefit for the person pretending to go along with it?

Women ( in the original female sense obviously) learn very well how well men play the social expectations of politeness and kindness to impose on us in ways that make us at best annoyed and uncomfortable, and at worst abused in the worst of ways.

No one does sadface like a man trying to manipulate a woman into doing what he wants.

There's a reason the TERFs are often older - because we are the ones who recognise it's the same old entitled manipulation just with a different brand.

Politeness isn't a truth statement if it were most honest people wouldn't be adhering to it. It's simply a framework to enable social cohesion. Surely even you can understand this simple concept.

Only a hopelessly warped mind could twist politeness into some kooky free speech crusade.

Let's face it genderists just can't do analogies. I feel sorry for they/them.

A 5” woman with very little muscle development would have been recruited as a fighter in a Greek army?

How would that have been realistic?

What a weird thing to post! You can do what you want but you're changing yourself. I'm not your mummy.

Good Lord! Casually browsing I thought that was a crass satire of the Genderist demands, not an actual Genderist 😂

The point being so spectacularly missed, whether through actual stupidity or tactical failure to get it, is that sex and the social and physical consequences of it exist whether we want it to or not. Mummy can't change that no matter how much Genderists might thcweam and thcweam and make themselves thick.

Feminists understand this and get on with working for the best outcomes for female people within that reality, which means (1) supporting women today who are dealing today with society's sexist beliefs about what behaviours are expected for women and for men while also challenging those sexist beliefs in the hope of changing women's futures, and (2) for those few social differences that are intrinsic to our physical bodies - the demands of pregnancy, childbirth and infant care, the reality of on average smaller bodies and less physical strength, the vulnerability to rape - working within society to ensure female people have support so these things do not limit our freedom, power and agency relative to male.

Genderists apparently think if we pretend we don't notice each other's sex and instead define and segregate ourselves rigidly by some weird idea of gendery personalities, millennia of sexism just disappears out of society poof! like magic.

I guess it's all part of Genderism's Tinkbell doctrine - things are only real if we we believe they are real.

Just as we all have to pretend very very hard trans people really are in, an ineffable metaphysical way, the opposite sex or they stop existing, all we need to do to stop sexism, misogyny, VAWG and all the other consequences of sex for female people existing is to pretend very very hard that they don't.

It's not "social convention in relation to politeness" to be expected to accept something as reality when another person is obviously play-acting a role in public.

Are you seriously suggesting every expression of politeness is genuine? 😂

Um, 'the mummy' is societal convention in relation to politeness….of which you as the 'child' don't seem to comprehend.

Were there females allowed to fight in antiquity? I'm vaguely aware of Amazons. I thought it was a trope in fiction that there'd be women who'd disguise themselves as young men to serve ("Bob" in Blackadder goes forth being most recent one I can think of).

No one has ever 'politely' referred to me as their mummy who wasn't actually my child. It's weird and frankly creepy. You don't seem to comprehend politeness at all (ref. your previous post). I think you've scored an own goal.

Positive role models of masculinity - do they mean positive role models of men who behave in ways not traditionally regarded as masculine - caring, artistic, gentle etc? This is going to cause all sorts of conceptual difficulty for those who think men are defined by constellations of common behaviours.

Positive examples of people who may or may not identify as men based on behaviour that falls somewhat outside the average or typical range for male folk, and may also not actually be male, but y'know, positive examples of people to inspire the ... young people.

If EP, as a non-man, can be a positive example of masculinity, exhibiting certain features that people consider desirable and laudable, why can't I, as a woman, have those features and be a role model for masculinity?

I'd pay to watch Denzil Washington (or Glenda Jackson) as MacBeth as long as I wasn't expected to kneel to him in the theatre bar and call him 'my liege' afterwards, ather than compliment him on his performance and cringingly ask for an autograph. Or still be expected to curtsey should we cross paths at any time in the future. Page can play a male role on screen, or can try too, as could any actress. That we are expected to comply in her delusion off the stage is as daft as thinking because it's night-time on screen it has to be dark outside.
