Reddit Trans Drama

Not sure if this was discussed at the time but I just read a summary of last month's falling out on r/trans.

A transman posted about the issues facing ftm people and in particular sexual assault. The post was removed by a mtf mod and the OP was told they were being divisive and another mtf mod told the OP to "stop bitching".

I know it's only petty reddit drama but I find it very telling that men who claim to be women and have special woman brains still manage to act like very male misogynists who work together to silence women.

Really?

Yes. Shocking, no?

this was what was deleted? Good lord.

i did ask if it was an autodelete, but they didn't answer that bit. I'm not going to push my luck.

I did think maybe autodelete for using the term, but it was mentioned in subsequent posts (two words as i did, and one word in the explanation that they are considered trans for the purposes of changing gender marker on passports) and they weren't zapped. So i will assume that it was reported, rather quickly by the sounds of things, i wasn't around to see it (and i still think you should get a mail when a post was deleted to warn you of that)

Back to the OP for a moment.

The problem is, in part, what has already being talked about here already - misogyny, man using female transitioners, and the rest. Also in the mix is the mens attitude to sexual assault.

They use their percieved increase in risk of sexual assault as proof that they are seen as women. Its also about the idea that its perpetrated by 'cis' men against women.

If female transitioners talk about it, they throw up questions - if they are percieved as men and sexually assaulted, then its not about gender identity and passing. Especially when the TW say its easier for TW to pass as men.

It also leads to questions about who are the perpetrators. Are 'trans' communities just as unsafe for women as 'cis' communities, and who in the trans communities are committing the assaults?

I realised no medical intervention was required, I hadn’t twigged it was as easy as asking. Effectively. What’s the point of the marker? I can wear jeans and sneakers and have an F. I can wear a dress and have an F. DH can grow his hair and have an M or an F.
What has F/M got to do with style choices?

What a strange decision that was.

Before we can issue a passport in the changed gender, we need evidence confirming the gender change is likely to be permanent (unless the customer identifies as a crossdresser). This evidence may be a:

  • Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) or an interim GRC; or
  • new birth certificate issued in the new gender; or
  • letter or written statement from a medical professional and where needed:
  • a statement from the customer and a referee for crossdressers
  • consent from everyone who has parental responsibility or legal guardianship for anyone under the age of 18 years (or a specific issues court order)

Crossdressers
We can only issue a passport if it is established the customer is using their new identity for all purposes. You, the examiner, must not issue a passport in a name or gender a customer uses for some but not all purposes.
If the customer cannot provide medical evidence, they must make a statement confirming they permanently use the preferred identity. They must also have a referee confirm their new identity and send us evidence if they have changed their name (see Names – evidence to change a name).
You must scan the customers signed statement that confirms they use the preferred identity on the application (see gender recognition: scanning supporting documents).

My bold, so the name change isn't actually needed. Just a 'preferred identity' that is a crossdresser.

Really. Change your name, build up some paper proof, couple of letters from doctors.

Absolutely no medical intervention required.

Indeed. You can get a “female” British passport without any medical involvement with just a declaration if you’re a “cross dresser”

Really?

I've seen posts where transwomen tell transmen they have male privilege and in trans spaces they should shut up and allow the marginalised and vulnerable transwomen to speak.

I've been told it happens a lot in real life, especially in trans youth groups where men in their 20s bully girls in their teens.

Omg. It’s all so toxic and it’s about time people stopped lying to themselves and others. You cannot change sex.

Magenta82 · 16/07/2025 07:27

DurinsBane · 16/07/2025 01:13

You said FTM? So that is women saying they are men, not men saying they are women

I am going to refer purely to sex for clarity.

A female person made a post about some problems including sexual assault, the post was taken down by some male people who told her she was being divisive and should stop bitching.

Once you take out the "gender" stuff the dynamics are exactly the same as they are in pretty much every other time and place in the history of the world.

It is sad because the women often want to opt out of femaleness because they feel vulnerable, have been assaulted, subject to misogyny, etc and think this is the way to do it. But if anything it makes the misogyny worse and they are silenced more.

i think for transwomen we need to expand the definition of "clothes" for men (etc) so that cross dressers etc can just get on with it without the utter fiction that they really think they're women (unless they honestly do, but that must be a tiny minority)

for transmen we need to stop the whole "women are weak/supposed to be sexy/for making sandwiches" nonsense

And stop "gendering" toys and so on for children.

this was what was deleted? Good lord.

EmpressaurusKitty · 16/07/2025 05:30

I’m surprised the monitors haven’t despatched a transman yet to tell us how wrong we are.

2021x · 16/07/2025 02:11

This whole reddit drama is unsurprising.

I spent about 6 months on there, and there are some respectful and helpful communities.

It was so obvious that the mods are mainly emotionally immature men or pick-me women. I could say or agree with pretty outrageous things when they thought I was male, but posts were removed and I was barred for saying moderate things as a female.

It would however be a very useful place to do research on the application of trans-ideoglogy in society.

There is a youtube video where a Transwoman actually says to another TW "You do not interrupt a black transwoman when they are speaking".

2021x · 16/07/2025 02:05

Thingybob · 14/07/2025 14:56

I've been reading the responses to the original Reddit post and amazingly some seem to have almost got there and joined up the dots.

"If society admitted that we were vulnerable, it would have to admit that AFAB anatomy puts us in a uniquely vulnerable position. That we are structurally made to be inferior by our biology combined with the behavior of all of society, and that no amount of testosterone or bottom surgery will fix that fact. If we didn’t go through male puberty, we have been permanently stunted relative to what would’ve happened if we had gone through male puberty. And even if we manage to get androgens during puberty, we still have female reproductive organs that are vulnerable in ways that male ones are not. We still face the potential loss of our autonomy through pregnancy, as well as other physical vulnerabilities of having those body parts.
Our existence highlights the uncomfortable fact that women and men aren’t equal, because when we try to be equal, we simply aren’t. In fact, we’re more screwed over than literally any other social group. The more we try to be equal, the more we are punished for it, and more we are exploited. And that highlights the very unpopular notion that women protect themselves by trading aesthetic performance of femininity and reproductive capacity for limited security. That there is no winning, as someone born into default womanhood.
Equal rights under the law should be equal rights to everything that men get. But that’s not what we’re getting. Instead, we’re being silenced, suppressed, and treated like women in all of the negative ways, while denied all of the positive things that are given to women… such as protection… in direct proportion to how much we insist that we are men. Calling ourselves men should not be treated as an invitation to be abused, erased, and silenced. The fact that it is highlights just how little privilege we have."

The internalised misogny in that post is clear. Words like "inferior" and "stunted" to refer to their female biology.

I also felt like this in my teens and early 20's. I would have loved to have been a strong as a man, as that what I thought you had to do to get respect. When I realsied it was mostly fear, then it all made sense.

I wonder what the threshold will be for medical ham for these women who transistioned during adolescence.

Silversally2025 · 16/07/2025 01:57

ArabellaScott · 14/07/2025 14:20

No wonder. If I was a transman I'd be absolutely raging at how transwomen treat them.

The misogyny continues. I really wish I could say something more meaningful, but that is it, at least as far as I can see. I am sure there is a whole other level of intellectualism that someone else could apply to it, but that is what I observe.

shoutout to MN for restoring my post. I was very careful when writing it not to insult people.

Just for the record, 'crossdresser' is a still a term used by the UK government to designate someone without a GRC (and presumably with no intentions of getting one) who still wants to change the gender marker on their passport. In no way can it be seen as a slur in and of itself. In fact it would not only be dysfunctional to ban the term outright, but probably also transphobic.

As if there haven't been enough stories about these fetishists attacking women and pretending to be women when they are accused of rape or sexual assault.

Yes.

Isn't that how all this started?
Women being kind.....

SerafinasGoose · 15/07/2025 21:31

I saw nothing wrong with it at all. What I did see is that had been up there for mere minutes before disappearing in puff of smoke. There are a lot of similar inflammatory threads lately - like the one about t-shirt slogans - appearing in a spate and all are taking a similar turn and tone. The speed at which posts are disappearing is telling.

I find it interesting that the alphabet soup is now eating itself, although TBF it was never shy of doing so when someone wasn't toeing the party line. Lesbians have been fair game for years now, but not usually other trans people: excepting old school transsexuals who wanted no part of their aggression. It was very predicable which category of trans person they would turn on first. Strange how they always know what a woman is when it comes to where to direct the insults and discrimination.

Another aspect of DARVO from within this movement is that TRAs are constantly accusing GC women of accusing all trans women of being a potential threat, calling all trans women sex offenders and perverts. Distinguishing between fetishists and young people with dysphoria is deemed 'transphobic' - no such distinction is permitted; trans people 'are who they say they are'. We're all bigots for allegedly seeing them all as one and the same - and also bigots, when it suits them, for acknowledging that there are individuals and distinct categories existing under the 'umbrella' and some such categories are staging a relentless tirade against women. Heads, I win, heads, you lose. Clever of them. Except now the masks have come off, and people are more and more seeing these disingenous tactics for exactly what they are.

Obfuscate, obfuscate, obfuscate.

Yes, any post. This thread may make it easier for them to see what the deleted one was? Not sure.
