It's International Non-Binary Awareness Day today!

I logged on to work this morning to find our corporate Intranet has announced that we are celebrating International Non-Binary People's Day today. Apparently today falls exactly half way between International Women's Day and International Men's Day (whatever that is). There's a load of shit about what it means to be non Binary and some links to useful sites to learn more - including to Stonewall.

Give me strength. Why does senior management promote this bullshit?

That's probably why they've latched onto it, like the leeches they are. Next year they will point to the French and say "see, this is how a country celebrates and respects NBs!"

You can get ointment for that.

You may have to travel some distance into the far north to obtain the special ointment, but it is guaranteed to be effective.

What about those of us who identify as neither binary nor non-binary?

I'm feeling a distinct lack of corporate HR celebration tbh.

For starters, we need at least two days, 1/4 and 3/4 of the way between International Women's Day and International Men's Day (whatever that is).

Yes, I think the fact that there is such a deliberate binary, whereby yesterday and tomorrow were/are NOT non-binary awareness day and today IS non-binary awareness day, are just such a blatant betrayal of everything that this concern allegedly stands for.

The Vatican via google saved me hunting out my ancient childhood prayer book - though the maths seems a bit suspect given that Sundays are generally held to be 7 days apart!

Septuagesima Sunday - about 70 days before Easter,
Sexagesima Sunday - about 60 days,
and Quinquagesima Sunday - about 50 days

I always loved the words when I was small - so pointlessly long and complicated 😅

I can't remember exactly, but didn't Sebastian in Brideshead Revisited opine that Septuagesima Sunday was the only feast worth celebrating??
I doubt if it was Sexagesima.
Quinquagesima would have been even quirkier, so it could have been that, but the word doesn't trip off the tongue like Septuagesima..

This might be outing (I'll take the risk), but I used to be a dab hand at analysing hexadecimal dumps.
