What do whips, spandex and dog masks have to do with Pride?

They're kinks/fetishes right? Not related to sexual orientation. Also why are they anything to be 'proud' of? Your closest friends would probably find it pretty odd (and stomach turning!) if you told them your OH likes to wear your undies, or what gets you off is him licking your feet... Why is proclaiming what should be personal and private turn-ons to the general public any better? Why should they be glad for you in any way for being so open about it?

And hey, if you like walking around nude, there are nudist parades in the UK too, seriously, go join them!

You are saying they should be ashamed, that's what it means when you push it away from the public and into behind closed doors. But PRIDE was, is and always will be the place to express yourself and be met with love and acceptance. Within bounds of the law of course, no one will have a full on sex on the parade.

Your "safeguarding" is more like attempt at censorship, as I guess there is nothing worse than a kid learning that using whips or chains can be fun, and that enjoying it is not something that they will be shunned for, but instead that there is whole group of people enjoying what they are enjoying.

You know, you do you, but actually do you, not just "the you that I accept and like".

I have couple of kids fyi, since you are trying to climb that high horse, loving kids that no one taught hate, instead they learn to accept and cherish people who are a bit queer and different, not clutch their pearls online.

Sorry what.

You think kids should be taught about sex involving whips and chains?

some of those furries need grooming - the state of them

Brilliant

Justwrong68 · 05/07/2025 23:15

I started going to pride in the 80s when it was still a protest march. Most gays want to be accepted as the same as straights which is why gay marriage is so popular and therefore there’s nothing to march for. But like Stonewall, pride doesn’t want the party to stop so instead it flies the flag for any social outsider with a histrionic personality disorder

Linzi2377 · 05/07/2025 23:07

He/she is f*ed up

Firealarm1414 · 05/07/2025 23:06

"My kids are with me and my wife at many prides, kink is involved, it's never a problem. Just like topic of sex is never a problem in our house, neither is the topic of kink sex. If they are old enough to ask, they are old enough to get an answer, as detailed as they are willing to keep asking."

This is literally grooming. Yuck.

Wishing14 · 05/07/2025 23:04

I suppose it’s somewhat satisfying to see people like @AidaPadmit what they are doing really is about showing sexual preferences and kinks to kids, but it’s disturbing nonetheless. Really really disturbing.

Linzi2377 · 05/07/2025 23:00

its weird and the worlds gone mad for sure.. youll find the majority of people don’t care what people gets upto behind closed doors

Mischance · 05/07/2025 22:58

AidaP · 05/07/2025 21:33

And kids don't have sex before marriage either.

Life and other myths our prude parents pretended to tell us, despite having kids at ~15-19 years old.

There is a difference between prudishness and abusive self-serving imposition of adult quirks on young minds.

DialSquare · 05/07/2025 22:57

It would be nice to think that Aida’s gone off to have a bit of a word with himself

I suspect he’s gone to Malaga airport.

Barbie222 · 05/07/2025 22:50

What @ADreamIsAWishYourArseMakessaid. Children don’t need an understanding of why adults like to hurt each other with whips and chains before they’ve fully absorbed the message that it isn’t a good idea to hit people with whips and chains generally. To understand why it’s okay to hit people with whips and chains sometimes and not others requires an adult understanding of consent and sexual desire, doesn’t it. It’s the same with porn - we wonder why we have such a rising problem with misogyny - here’s why.

It would be nice to think that Aida’s gone off to have a bit of a word with himself - but I suspect he’s desperately trying to validate his worldview in the usual places, and square that circle of cognitive dissonance!

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/07/2025 22:43

They should be protected, to learn about consent, about respectful relationships, and then find out about that stuff as an adult in a healthy way.

little said it better

Why is it one or the other?

My kids are with me and my wife at many prides, kink is involved, it's never a problem. Just like topic of sex is never a problem in our house, neither is the topic of kink sex. If they are old enough to ask, they are old enough to get an answer, as detailed as they are willing to keep asking.

Whereas many parents think that by creating some sheltered existence their kids won't find about it, completely ignoring that if you turn on prime time tv you will see the same, and more, than you will on pride. Or if you google, really, anything.

So I'll reply to you in good faith.

If a child asks you a question its important to answer, but in an age appropriate way. This doesn't mean being a prude, it's sharing info which they can process.

A primary school child won't understand kink, or the nuances of it, because their understanding of sex and desire will be very limited. As an adult I have my kinks, but as a 10 year old I'd have found whips and chains confusing and potentially frightening because I didn't understand why anyone would want to have icky gross sex, let alone incorporate whips into sex.

And this bit of innocence is important. Childhood is shrinking by the second, and the more time we can give our children to understand what they like and who they are outside of the context of sex before the disruption of puberty the better.

IMO pride should be about pushing back on homophobia and transphobia, and not about validating every niche queer adjacent thing. Honestly being proud of a man in a fur suit or someone being walked on a lead just plays into the hands of the daily mail. No one is stopping anyone from doing what they like in their bedroom, but if we aren't careful we will find that the info on sexuality taught in schools changes dramatically after the next election.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/07/2025 22:41

there is something wrong with you

adults doing kinky stuff? Crack on

teaching children about whips and chains? Nope nope nope

NeverOneBiscuit · 05/07/2025 22:40

Aida, the poster boy for Operation Let Them Speak.

A man, telling women that they’re pearl clutchers for, rightly, being disturbed that he sees no problem with kink being discussed & displayed around children.

Men who have no regard for boundaries, & then pretend to be confused, offended & made to feel ‘unsafe’ that they can’t enter female only spaces.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/07/2025 22:38

Mischance · 05/07/2025 21:00

Heterosexuals with kimky tastes do not gather to march the streets and tell everyone about it - they just get on with it. We simply do not need to know!

Yes they do, they are on pride marches

RufustheFactualReindeer · 05/07/2025 22:35

No, just posters here, who cannot mount a ~50+ people rally on 3 months notice

youve got a real thing for numbers of people in a march….its very trumpian 🤷🏻

WTF is a "transbian"?

A transwoman in a relationship with a woman?

A transwoman in a relationship with another transwoman?

A lesbian in a relationship with a transwoman?

A man in a relationship with a woman. So plain old boring straight people.

Trying to shame women about safeguarding whilst simultaneously suggesting children can learn (and should?) learn about not just sex, but fetishes is one of the one most disturbing views I’ve seen on here for a while. You are a walking, neon red flag if ever there was one.

This.

Kids should/could learn that whips and chains can be fun? Get that so far to fuck.

You’re an absolute creep @AidaP . Genuinely unhinged behaviour. You’re worth the watching.

Started reading this thread, and it was immediately obvious that a certain prolific poster is male with male-typical paraphelia.

Jesus. saying it right out loud.

myplace · 05/07/2025 21:58

There was an experiment in Germany in the 60s/70s where they were following your approach Aida. Children were sexualised early by being educated about sex- adults demonstrated, dc were encouraged to experiment.

It was abuse, pure and simple.
You have no boundaries- that is not the same as freedom.
Sex is not supposed to be a public display. The rest of the world has no need to know what turns you on.
