Hmm. What comes to mind is what woman would ever get anywhere near being Style Editor of Tatler if they weren't precisely fitting the required aesthetic mould?

I don’t mind that man wearing whatever he likes, I think he is interesting.
Theres rarely any transmen doing this gender fluid dressing for brands though. It would be interesting to see what the advertising thinking behind that is?

Do transmen just look like women in ordinary clothes?
Do shopping men find it completely un helpful in buying clothes to see transwomen wearing them?
Do men prefer to buy clothes advertised by manly manly men? Is that their aspiration?
Is it not enough of a visual impact to be an eye catching picture for a brand, unlike say a bearded man in a Las Vegas showgirl type outfit?

I think it is that men are hopelessly stereotyped in their aspirations and self image but women are more likely to seperate the dress from the wearer so can see a man in a dress and think ‘those sleeves are great’

I don’t know what happened at Boden, whether they were bought over or had to undergo a significant restructure a few years ago, but they had a significant change of offering - for the worse. I used to buy quite a bit from there (when discounted) but haven’t now for years.

I’m an ancient dyke and Terf and I love style! How peopke present themselves has always fascinated me.
I like to be all Vita Sackville West, Sarah Raven or Carol Klein in the garden and allotment and always “dress up” to go to town!

Most of the men pretending to be women locally either look their Nan, even down to the American Tan tights and a nice Elizabeth II handbag or playing out some fetish involving clothes that reveal far more than is necessary and falling into Boots make up counter. When I still did “gay” things I went to a group and there was a chap who admitted he loved the clothes that are stereotypically female and he knew he was a man but really enjoyed the performative aspect but not in a drag way. We really bonded over clothes and style.

Chandler needs to have a good scrub and find the iron. That could be a good outfit if he wore it with more panache. I doubt Boden will get many orders after this promotion.

I quite like the shorts and jacket. It's the beret, weird footwear/socks that bother me.

But, I am very much not Tatler's target market. I am, of course, a terrible old frump, as all vipers are required to be.

I haven’t bought anything from Boden for absolutely ages, but was looking at some of their dresses the other day…however, this hideous monstrosity of an outfit is definitely not tempting me back!
