You seem to be working with a very outdated definition. I had to explain it all to my parents. There has been quite a change in recent years. Especially in terms of how the law recognises things.

You're moving the goal posts here. I was responding to your point about feeling less safe around straight men than around trans women. The statistics don't back that up.

If there are three people in front of you, a trans woman, a man and a woman, the one most likely to be a sex offender is the trans women, then the man, and then (a very very long way behind) the woman.

Thats not true the statistic is that trans women that are already INCARCERATED are more likely to have been convicted of a sexual crime than straight men. But statistically you are more likely to meet a woman who has been convicted of a sexual crime in the bathroom since trans people only make up 0.3% of the population.

Trans women are welcome to "become who they want to be," whatever that actually means. They just aren't welcome to erode women's rights in the process. We've worked quite hard for those, and they aren't up for the taking.

No surgical or hormone treatment is required to get a Gender recognition certificate or to be covered by the PC of gender reassignment in the Equality Act.

To be honest, I think the bathroom thing is a bit of a damp squib/red herring/ whatever. It’s always been used as a deflection “We only want to pee!” is easily fixed, and distracts from the important discussions about prisons, lesbians rights, sport and employment.

The statistics show clearly that:

Men are more violent a sex class than women.
Identifying as trans does not change this.
There are less attacks on women when single-sex toilet facilities exist.

Men have a wonderful (saracasm) array of options to hurt women with. Some men are also angry towards trans-female-identifying folk - You honestly don't think that they would love the opportunity to pretend that it was a trans identifying person who was violent?

There's nothing wrong with women not wanting to share certain spaces with bio males.

It's not being anti-trans. I'm not anti-men but I don't want to be in vulnerable place with them. Hospital ward, prison, changing room or bathroom. And I certainly wouldn't want to compete against them in sport because it wouldn't be fair.

I have transmen family. They don't feel the urge to compete in men's sport.

I would always call someone by their chosen name and pronouns to them as respect. But trans people are a separate category to the opposite sex. Not wrong or worse, just different. You cannot become the opposite sex. That's just the truth.

My best guy mate isn’t a threat. He shouldn’t go into women’s spaces either as his presence may make other women uncomfortable for a myriad of reasons. I can assure you he wouldn't harm a fly. This wouldn’t change if he woke up tomorrow and thought he was a woman. What part of that do you not get? Women have the right to single SEX spaces.
