Trans swimmer goes topless to protest having to swim with men

Completely misleading headline, as they were not in a men's race but an open one. Organisers renamed it open/women's specifically to accommodate trans. Biological women can compete in the open, and for all we know might have done. So really rather silly.

For those of you interested in results - this was the Cornwall County Masters swim meet in April 2025. The results are split by age - Coombs was second in mens 50m breaststroke aged 65-69 years. There were only 2 men in that age group swimming. No idea if these are good times for his age. 'seed time' is how you're listed as racing pre-meet so they can order the heats. All info is off the Cornwall County masters website and in public domain.

Chances are he still has his todger as only a small minority of transwomen have had their testicles amputated and their penis turned inside out to make a pretend fanny.

There’s a gentleman that swims at the same times I do at our local pool with a more impressive set of moobs than him, men don’t usually cover up their tops when they swim, but rash vests have become more popular recently for those that want to, my DH wears one to cover up a rather large scar.

The more topless protests, the better. I couldn’t even tell which of those men was Ann. Luckily one had a blurry section over their chest.
It’s hard to see what all the hormones and surgery has achieved, it must be disappointing after all that effort, to look much like the other old men when you come down to the nitty gritty. It’s probably embarrassing because you are caught out in a big fat lie (I’m a normal woman) which is always undignified.

Coombes has previous for repeatedly wandering through women only changing rooms while elite girl swimmers were naked in order to get into their skin tight costumes. He generated an immediate rule change from Swim England, so clear was the safeguarding breach:

Well, yes. Just with weird fake breasts that I don’t imagine anyone finds appealing. Why would anyone choose to make themselves unattractive? Especially those who are sex fetishists (I’m not saying this one is) and presumably want to increase their chances of attracting a sex partner?

The amusing thing is that every time he tries to make a point, he makes the opposite one from the one he intended to make.

It is peculiar how very often these men are. The 'just getting on with things' ones seem to be like that mythical fraudulent, totally transitioned and lovely accountant who was the reason that all men should go into women's prisons; rarer than hens teeth.

If a man wants to swim with his artificially created breasts flopping about, whatever. Men come in all shapes and sizes, they're a diverse sex class.

You'd think a bit of sense would dictate he'd make his case better wearing an appropriate swimsuit for someone with breasts of the type he'd like them to be seen as, but it's not in any way helping demonstrate that he and his boundary issues should be let loose in the women's changing rooms or that he should be permitted to go and destroy women's rights to sports of their own.

Edited: no, not make 'his case', there's no case to make. I meant that a man with a trans identity competing with dignity and dressed as he wishes to present himself is going to gain an awful lot more public support. Although not to let him invade women. Just to be himself.

It was an open category but as a male he was no different to the others. However, as he identifies as a woman he was told he could wear a swimsuit if he wished.

How do you there is one? Maybe it has been cut and folded inside?

If it’s the open category the mandated dress needs to be sufficiently flexible to accommodate both sexes. Sounds like this swimmer was offered to wear a female suit but didn’t want to because it would be outing. A range of options that everyone can choose from seems the obvious solution to both problems. If one particular style is more competitive everyone will gravitate to it anyway. And if transwoman wants to swim tits out then that’s cool too.

Does anyone know what he placed? He came second in the last womens competition he was in. I’d be interested to know if he placed so highly against other men?

Lots of men wear full-cover suits up to the shoulder and down to the knee as it helps make them more streamlined for speed cutting through the water.

Boobs would definitely add a bit of friction (hmm, originally wrote "drag" but best not in this context) so probably wise to wear a suit to streamline them to achieve best performance.

The female category is for female people. It's not a "people with boobs" category.

“Man swims wearing the same clothing that all other men wear” is not newsworthy. This is so bizarre
