Why is this subforum so intent on removing voices that dont' agree?

Whilst I don’t wish to have a wider discussion on “trans rights”, I really would like you to point me to where I said I “have some slam dunk lawyerly arguments about which trans rights shouldn't be opposed”.

Your post was about the approach to moderation but the phrase 'trans rights' and the context in which you used it was of interest, particularly since you are a lawyer and therefore, no doubt, quite careful and precise about the words and phrases you use.

And the quotes of mine you have included don’t say that at all either. I raised being a lawyer purely because some other poster was trying to school me on the legal position, that’s it.

I genuinely would have thought that it would be largely agreed that for a period of time a while back Mumsnet over moderated by deleting messages or threads that challenged “trans rights” (or whatever language people are trying to police me to use). Posts challenging trans women in women’s sports or women’s jails were, for example, deleted or messages within it were deleted pretty quickly and frequently. This approach then softened and enabled more robust discussions to be had, and “pro-trans” posters were moderated more carefully than they had been before. As a reader but non-poster, I thought I saw a clear shift in Mumsnet policy. Maybe I’m wrong, it’s not a big point.

I found it curious that a gender critical woman would style the GC view on protecting women's rights as 'opposed to trans rights'. So I was genuinely interested in your thoughts.

Why are you replying to my post that is specifically for somebody else? And why do you keep asking me to engage on something I have said I don’t want to engage on?

Your posts to me are disingenuous and condescending. Your first one pissed me off, because it made assumptions about my knowledge and views that are incorrect. You responded to something I said that you clearly didn’t like by trying to educate me, based on those incorrect assumptions. When I responded in turn, you then took on a passive aggressive, faux innocent approach. I have no interest in having a discussion on trans rights with you at all. I suspect actually we would not be very far apart on our views, but as I have said I have absolutely no interest in discussing it with you at all.

All this has done is serve to remind me why I stay away from this topic. I won’t be responding to you further.

Yet you have again used the words oppose and trans rights. Posters have asked you what ‘rights’ you refer to. Did you clarify?

So it can be viewed as a negative act to ‘oppose’ a group’s ‘rights’. And the question remains, are they actually ‘rights’ or are they additional privileges above all other groups within the population?

You say you don’t want to be in the discussion, fine. But maybe you could at least acknowledge that perhaps people are finding seeking clarification for the words you have used in your post.

You say it is not ‘remotely’ what you said. Yet more than one of us has interpreted your words differently to the way you say you intended.

Where you mischaracterise feminists on this board as opposing trans rights. Which is untrue. I would predict the majority of posters on this board are not ‘opposed’ to people with transgender identities having the same rights to protect them as anyone else.

You seem to have a strange view on my comments. I am perfectly calm, not ‘hugely invested’ (any more than anyone else with an interest in discussing women’s rights) and (presuming that’s aimed at me) I am not ‘really pissed off’.

I just pointed out that you presented an opinion as if it were fact on a topic you admit you know little about (the contents and discussions in this forum as you apparently don’t hang out here much). I then tried to find some common ground by asking you a relevant question (on something you raised).
