Like here he is claiming that gender critical women "enjoy" men like him being "raped and assaulted", are "enforcing gender conformity" and are "suckling on the penis of the far right" (🤮).

Heard all this rubbish many times before, these guys are ten a penny.

Blimey! Literotica is that way > if he wants to write his sissy porn fantasies

No. What I'm getting at is one may break the talk guidelines: i.e 'personal attack' because you're saying "you are... (..)" . Look I'm trying to help here. But I'll trot off if you're not interested.

No, i think you are right…its certainly what i would try and do

Why? Is it because women should be polite and subtle, rather than straightforward and assertive?

Yes, its a bit rich coming from reddit where they campaigned to remove any subs that were feminist.

The problem the redditors have is that they cannot debate, they just dont know what it looks like.

They'll make a statement and see rebuttals as insults. It's why they have lots of illogical, conflicting 'truths' at once - nobody even on their own side can talk about any discrepancies. So when they immerge from reddit, they flounder when they speak to people who have debated and thought it through.

If you think there has always been one way of thinking on MN, try looking at old threads. Theres a progession of thought here.

Nail on head.

They are so used to environments where people with opposing views are simply banned, that they have no idea how to talk to people with opposing views.

Then they come somewhere like Mumsnet, where they get frustrated because they don't have any compelling arguments to counter opposing views (having never had to do so before), and so they resort to insults.

And then they think their posts are being deleted for their opposing views themselves rather than because the way they are expressing them contravenes the site rules.

JellySaurus · 21/06/2025 11:18

I've got to admit, I have found Mumsnet far more tolerant recently of views that don't conform to 'right think ' and I applaud that. I think you just have to be careful there's no direct accusations etc. so best to put " I feel there's a lot of naiveté in your posts " rather than "you are very ignorant" if you get me

Brefugee · 21/06/2025 11:17

In the old, wild west days of Internet 1.0, the advice to new posters to a forum/board were to read the posts and answers for a few hours/days to get a feel for the place and how the rules are applied.

And only then to post.

@BeeSouriante do you know what you said in the posts that had someone complain and that they were removed?

Because they don't like what you are saying.

It's true that there are guidelines for proper behaviour, which is absolutely right on any forum, but there is a second, more pernicious, trend on this particular sub-forum where any voice that goes against the cult is jumped on by the crowd, the poster subjected to ad hominem attacks, and - very often - the post removed.

You could attempt to argue that any dissenting voice is, by its nature of being against the majority, 'trolling' and consequently breaches the guidelines, but I'm not convinced that's a very convincing argument. Let's be honest, anyone who doesn't worship JKR or doesn't think that trans-women are simply 'men in dresses' are, in the views of many on this forum, fair game to be attacked.

Where it becomes an even bigger problem is when the worst offenders attempt to obfuscate their behaviour by claiming it is feminism. It isn't.

All you can do, short of simply staying away from this sub-forum, is to maintain your stance with grace and humility.

Edited

If only 1% of the effort that went into posts complaining they aren't allowed to make the opposing argument actually went into making an opposing arguement!

Come on JsmeLegie, buck that trend!

Given that you obviously know biologically female people exist and are different to male, and presumably would not claim that being biologically female has not historically and still today lead to significant social constraints and risks that are specific to being biologically female, why is it so important to the TWAW crowd that women (in the original sense of female people) should not be allowed their own sex-specific rights, spaces and protections, not even allowed the language to speak of hiw being female impacts their lives for good or bad?

Why is it that they will only accept trans women being respected and protected if it also takes rights, protections and language away from women?

Explain to me not why trans women want what they want, but why female people cannot also be recognised for the challenges we have and our needs, voice and existence as specifically and permanently female people be respected?

Any comment on this by the posters who say that the women on here create a toxic environment?

DialSquare · 21/06/2025 11:05

Posters who say they disagree with us, never say what it is they actually disagree with. They just say that they disagree and there no point arguing as they will just get piled on/accused of being a man etc.
So what is it that you disagree with?
Do you think women shouldn’t have any single sex spaces?
Do you think women should be competing against men in sports?
Do you think children who are autistic and/or possibly gay should be encouraged down a path of lifetime medication?
Do you think women should be locked up with rapists?
Do you think women who have married men should agree that they have now become lesbians once their husbands transition?

So again, tell us what it is you disagree with.

Some TRAs really do use the most revolting imagery. I can’t imagine why I wouldn’t want to be in a vulnerable space with this particular person.

  • Sweeping negative generalisations about any group, including trans people and gender-critical feminists, won’t be tolerated.

Those appear constantly on this branch without being removed. 'Trans people are deluded'. 'Trans people have mental health issues'.

Do you report them?

So, you are right, the board is well moderated and by professional mods.

You then use a falsity to support your argument though.

No posts that provide an alternative viewpoint are ever 'removed'. The only time they are removed is when they fall outside the guidelines. So, if any post is removed it is not because they have provided an alternative viewpoint, it is however likely that they have personally attacked others.

Any posts from regular posters that personally attack others are also deleted. See how that works? So you declaring that posters providing alternative views are attacked, is probably hyperbole that you have added to your falsity to claim victimhood for those who are being deleted for their behaviour.

And it also probably says something about your personal definition of 'attack' that doesn't represent the reasonable definition that MNHQ has to use for their moderation policy.

The grip on reality there really is not good at all. Another illustration of the issues with constructed personal realities that are then protected from actual reality.

You might find it helpful to read up more on this - your characterisation of people in this board as being ‘opposed to trans rights’ is wholly inaccurate and may have coloured your concept of fair moderation.

You may want to start with the basic facts:

No one can change sex
Sex is important in some situations like medicine, sport, jobs and facilities
‘Gender identity’ has no real and fixed definition and relies totally on stereotypes.
Trans people have the same rights as the rest of us - most of their common demands are privileges which impact negatively on others.

This is such a bizarre response to my post, which was completely level and clearly not actually about trans rights. Your response suggests you are hugely invested in the topic and perhaps yourself can’t see the situation regarding moderation on mumsnet with any clarity.

I don’t think people can change sex in any way shape or form. I know sex is important. I am a lesbian who believes that there is an inherent homophobia and misogyny in elements of trans activism . I am a qualified lawyer with in-depth experience of equality law. I don’t need educating on the legal position in this area. I choose not to engage much in the debate on the topic on mumsnet because I find it can sometimes be toxic and unpleasant. I know there are plenty of people on this board who engage on the topic with integrity, and I also know there are others who do not, I have no idea what category you fall into as I have no idea who you are. But there are quite clearly people on this board who are opposed to trans rights and anybody suggesting that there is not is not being honest (perhaps even with themselves).

I strongly suggest you reread my first post and reflect on why you felt it necessary to send your response to somebody who has never engaged with you before and who you know nothing about.

Yeah and maybe not outright lie about the moderation

that and and the grace bit will keep your posts up

posts are not deleted because you have a dissenting voice

its just not true and i don’t know how MNHQ have the patience not to comment

JsmeLegie · 21/06/2025 10:49

Yup. Double standards.

Generally, I find the other areas of MN absolutely fine. It's only really this sub-forum that seems to bring out the nasty behaviour in some people.

I would certainly agree this is seen as an ideal space for women hating scolds to insult women. The 'reflections on trans arguments' thread is still up despite the jaw droppingly offensively rude OP. Indeed the OP of this thread has made multiple repetitively rude threads about the posters on here. And this thread is basically 'why am I not allowed to call women part of an anti trans hate cult with impunity?! Waaah!'

SnowFrogJelly · 21/06/2025 01:00

It’s basically true though

What is " basically true"?

The fact is that for years many valued contributors were banned from the forum due to the habit of trolls continually reporting posts that they didn't like. People who are regulars here are not big fans of reporting posts; they tend to prefer that a post speaks for itself and that casual observers can decide on the quality or veracity of the content.

Mumsnet has guidelines and rules around posting...though some of these have relaxed in recent years as women's voices and concerns around trans ideology have been taken more seriously.People who simply post insults, make accusations and engage in name calling may well find their post get removed, though.
