Agreed. Though just occasionally some of the fine women here prefer to call a spade a bloody shovel.

Men have tried to control women through shame since the beginning of time. It’s getting a tad boring now.

Some people seem to want and expect the right to repeatedly insult women without us having the right to respond.

Yes, I almost never report anything on this subforum for exactly this reason.

I think most of us let posts stand because of Operation Let Them Speak. It means that everyone can see what's being said and can comment or challenge it. If such posts stand then the poster can't hide behind 'I said something completely innocuous and was deleted for it for no reason!!' (which is essentially the basis of this thread) - it's there for all to see.

• Women would be listened-to if they expressed themselves nicely.

• It's kind to use wrong-sex pronouns if somebody wants you to.

Yeah, "I feel there's a lot of naiveté in your post" could be an appropriate response.

OTOH

• Teenage girls stood be allowed to have elective mastectomies because clownfish/it's kind/adult women get breast-reductions.

• Trans-identified men should be allowed to use women's toilets because it's men who rape, not the special sacred caste of men.

• Men should be prioritised over post-mastectomy women for breast implants, because the women's lives have been saved from cancer but the men are very upset.

The fact that you have replied to a commenter asking 'why YOU are restricting my voice' suggests you don't know how the forum works.

If you want to challenge a removal, you need to ask admin, not us!

Specifically, people who believe that they have the right to be safe from other people's opinions but not that women have the right to be safe from men don't like that.

And also, I've seen far more robust posts on other boards (AIBU being the infamous example) but it's only here that women are told that they are mean when faced with yet another diatribe of 'you're all anti trans bigots!!!' from someone whose critical thought processes go no further than 'TWAW. No debate'.

It is quite interesting how that has appeared in posts censuring women’s discussion by new posters over the past few days.

I remember when there was a general consensus amongst FWR regulars not to report MRA posts so that they would stand as a record of the malevolent shite sort of things being posted. I don’t know if that remains but it always seemed a pretty good idea to me - I prefer to be able to form my own opinion about people based on their own words.

So a male poster who wants women to take notice of their entry into spaces where women can talk, while admonishing women for rejecting the premise that male people can ever be women?

I thought the poster who started this might be a child but his Reddit history suggests he's an older middle-aged man who started pretending to be a woman around a decade ago.

Agreed. Every so often there are requests (demands sometimes) that Mumsnet adds Reddit type features - downvoting or blocking the posts of posters you don't like/disagree with for example. There is a deletion to report posts here but there are proper moderators and actual guidelines instead of the Challoner wild west of Reddit.

That's because this is an actual discussion forum where you might see posts you disagree with and if you say something unsubstantiated or sweepingly without merit (i.e I disagree with the 'prevailing view' on here without actually explaining why you don't believe that women have the legal right to single sex spaces and services) then you will be called out on it and you can't just block/downvote/no replies them.

And some people really don't like that.

I also think that the regular posters on here rarely report posts as we want the posts to stay up so everyone can see what the opposing view posters say. I’ve never reported a post.

What is going on why are we getting a sudden rash of TRA’s on here?

is it because they think they can round us up to agree with them with their well constructed arguments?

Are we all going to rush around and create a lobby group for men should be able to use women’s spaces?

Or are they just venting at us because of course it is our fault that the judges determined the law re biological sex?

I don't entirely disagree with you about how posters could phrase their opinions. All too often, however, assertive women are described as shrill, hysterical, or plain nasty, because they are breaking with the feminine stereotype and expressing themselves in line with a masculine stereotype that is looked upon positively in men. There is a societal demand placed upon women to express themselves only in ways that do not upset others. But sometimes you have to call a spade a spade.
