Hi all,

Just flagging this for any lesbian or bi women who’ve felt pushed out of Pride, or like something’s quietly disappeared.

We’re organising a lesbian and bisexual women-only march on Saturday 5th July in central London. It’s the same day as the main Pride event – but we’re not part of their route, and we’re not affiliated.

Time: 11.00 AM
Meeting point: Emmeline Pankhurst Statue, Victoria Tower Gardens South (by Parliament)
Route: Walk to Parliament Square for a few short speeches, then back to the park for a picnic (or a nearby pub if it rains)

No men. No brands. No pressure.
Just women. In public. Without compromise.

It’s fully self-funded. All permits, insurance, stewards and first aid are covered.

RSVP now
Click “Attend” – even if you’re only thinking of coming. It helps us plan and it shows other women that this space is real.
New faces always welcome.
Meetup

If you’re coming alone or feeling nervous, join our entry WhatsApp group – we’ll look after you:
chat.whatsapp.com/FCsLSOzgV4C2yUGplyQr5m
(This is our public group – open to everyone before vetting. The private WhatsApp spaces are strictly filtered. Only verified, registered women are added after screening. To move into those, register and complete sex verification here: thelcommunity.com)

If you want to understand the story behind why this is needed:

They didn’t make space for us. So we did.

You’re free to attend Pride that’s what it’s there for. This march is for lesbians and bi women who want same-sex centred space. We just want peace, but you're making it hard. You don’t have to like it, but you don’t get to erase it.

No, you do not want peace, you want to preach transphobia.

There is a reason you do not state "trans women excluded" at your event descriptions anymore, as you know how that ends, now you just try dancing around the subject and preach "peace" while you preach hate.

People on mumsnet may buy it, I will check if london authority does too regarding your protest permit, and just how honest you were when describing the event to them.

Same with the police, as transphobic events require disclosing that fact properly to them.

Now if you want peace and embrace love and everyone, welcome to join all the other lesbians on pride, but that's not what you are about.

So desperately saddened by this thread. My DD (Autie, lesbian, GD but desisted) would really benefit from being able to come to events like this when she starts uni in London later this year. A space to find other lesbians - older, wiser ones; younger, nervous ones like herself; female ones - to find community, acceptance and maybe a GF in safety. But there is no safe space for her, is there?

And this is exactly the playbook women face every time they organise: smear, intimidate, distort. But we see it. And we’re not playing along. The march goes ahead.

Bravo.

For those watchiing with their mouths open at the realities of the homophobia of the gender movement with the mask off: the listed playbook above will also involve trying to convince the authorities to be sufficiently worried about masked idiots kicking off that they will prevent the event happening rather than try and police it and manage the anti social behaviour. It's another way of controlling and abusing.

I've got my bingo card in hand.

Exactly. The very idea of “women only” seems to trigger them like nothing else. Which is why holding this boundary matters more than ever.

Will be there in spirit LCommunity and wishing you very much luck. This is something I am proud of, to see lesbians out and proud and women-centred, in the way that used to be celebrated.

DuesToTheDirt · 16/06/2025 19:16

The phrase "women only" really brings out the nutjobs, doesn't it? If men can't be included, they don't want it to happen, and will do anything to stop it.

Exactly. The very idea of “women only” seems to trigger them like nothing else. Which is why holding this boundary matters more than ever.

Imagine being such a pathetic loser that you would protest against lesbians getting together. Does the sight of women meeting without men make your dick shrivel up and fall off?

LCommunity · 17/06/2025 10:13

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/06/2025 18:32

There really is something about lesbians that gets the homophobic looney men rubbing their knees

how little self awareness they have (but that goes with declaring you’ve changed sex and expecting everyone to take you seriously I suppose)

Exactly. Lesbian boundaries seem to trigger a special kind of rage in certain men. That’s why we stand firm we won’t be shamed for saying no.

The reaction that a lesbian and bisexual women-only march has drawn from a particular poster that a 'counter protest' should be organised should be considered what it is. Posts that are encouraging harm and are actually threatening in light of previous posting history.

Because this poster has in the past called violent and intimidating protest tactics 'peaceful'. And has dismissed violent acts as just being like 'comedy routines' and the like.

It is truly concerning to see a poster declaring that a 'peaceful' protest should be organised. Because that word 'peaceful', in light of that history, means anything but!

This is exactly why lesbians need to march because even our safety gets treated like a provocation.

Plan for dealing with uppity women.

  1. Write to authorities in area accusing them of being political. Even if it's a knitting group. Remember the tricoteuses. Your letters won't be published, your objections not identified so you can continue to 2. as if you had only just heard of it. 2.Ask if the event includes those it obviously doesn't and say you will be counter protesting it. Rub in the descriptions reminding women of what they will endure. This will stop many people attending. 3.Attend in the usual way and record everything from angles that identify the knitters as the cause of trouble.

I wouldn't be surpised if our dear Chris had not been in communication with the authorities about the difficulties caused by the uppity women.

And this is exactly the playbook women face every time they organise: smear, intimidate, distort. But we see it. And we’re not playing along. The march goes ahead.

Homosexual women not allowed at Pride. Now not allowed to leave Pride in peace and go and be by themselves either. Not allowed to meet. Not allowed a space to meet in.

My God how some men lose it and dispatch the flying monkeys when there's a woman refusing to have sex with men.

And there are those in this movement who apparently wants Pride - all of it - the gay Pride AND the Trans Pride, AND to own and control absolutely everything else too. Their own cake, everyone else's cake, all the cake, all the time. If anyone else has a crumb anywhere it's an act of defiance that must be punished. Wtf is wrong with these people?

This is it. Lesbians are constantly told to either submit or disappear. The second we organise anything for ourselves, it’s treated as an act of defiance. That’s why this march matters and why we’re not backing down.

One of the key aims of the posts on this thread will be to attempt to scare women out of risking attending.

Exactly. The bullying always starts before the march even happens. But they won’t scare us off. We’ll still be there visible, proud, and standing together.

'Protesting' a woman only picnic ffs.

What else will you protest? Women who are kissing someone and not you? It's not even a stretch, is it? It's pure incel behaviour. Embarrasing and gross.

Yes, of course its sunlight and will peak people. But ffs, women are sick of having to be the demonstration model that sexist, misogynist and predatory bullshit abounds.

WE KNOW.

I'm pretty sure that is just wrong. For example, what about an event for discussion of the church's attitude to homosexuality which billed itself as a forum for Christians and for gay people of any or no faith who wanted to understand more about how Christianity viewed them.

I'm not aware of anything at all in the judgement or the act that would prohibit that. Why on earth should it be prohibited.

Oh, also, lesbianism and bisexuality aren't two distinct protected characteristics. There is a single protected characteristic of sexuality covering both.

EDITED TO ADD: Also, the act doesn't make any sort of event illegal in principle, it just defines the parameters in which people can make a claim if they have been unreasonably disadvantaged by the parameters of the event on the grounds of a protected characteristic. Including two disjunctive characteristics might in some cases undermine the event organiserts claim that the exclusion of some groups was reasonable, but in other instances it would not.

Edited

Exactly.

To be fair if I wanted to go to a protest but there was a high chance that your mates may turn including aggressive men in balaclavas and others holding placards calling for violence towards me then I probably wouldn’t bother.

This is why we’re marching. And we’re not backing down.

I understand who it's about and am in support of them, I just wondered if they'd welcome straight women who wanted to stand alongside. I totally get that it's not for men. I also respect that it might not be for me either.
(Too far for me, just wondered generally).

Edited

Thank you and yes, it’s centred on lesbians and bi women, but we know some straight women support us quietly from the sidelines. That solidarity matters too.

Here are the definitions again, in case you missed them further up the thread

Women who are lesbian and women who are bisexual share the protected characteristic of being same sex attracted. It remains to be seen whether being bisexual would be seen as an exclusive group other than exclusively same sex attracted people for this purpose but that doesn’t seem to be how it’s worked in law to date, or you arguably wouldn’t be able to have groups for “LGBT” people at all. I’m not convinced by your reasoning.

This sounds great OP, I hope it goes really well. I would love to come but have my kids that day.

Excellent that you are doing this.

Thank you and if there’s any chance you can still pop by, even briefly, you’d be very welcome. Every woman showing up matters.

This is most pride thing to do, go and protest transphobia, read your history. I was gonna skip london but well, now I have a reason to come over and bring some friends along!

See you all there!

I look forward to seeing pictures of you and your friends in the papers for your homophobic hate rally at a lesbian pride event I'm sure it will be an enlightening image to those who didn't know how homophobic the T is

It's not a surprise the trans activists will target a meeting that is women only.

It is, however, mean, bullying, creepy and wrong.

Edited

Exactly. When women organise for themselves, this is sadly what follows. But we won’t be bullied out we’ll still march.

Wishing all the best for the Lesbian Pride March!

One of the few groups really deserving a pride march in these aggressively male-dominated times.

I hope all goes well and the MRA goons don't get to ruin it all.

Thank you fully agree. In a time where lesbians are constantly pushed aside, we’re taking one day to stand visible. Whatever they throw, we’ll be there.

They take our spaces and then we surrender them and make our own, they want to take them too.

Exactly. Every time women carve out a small space, someone demands access. That’s why this march matters because we’re not surrendering this one.

You can have an event for people who share two or three or four characteristics of course. What you cannot do is have something where people only meet one of the two protected characteristics. So black AND disabled - fine. Black OR disabled - not fine.

I'm pretty sure that is just wrong. For example, what about an event for discussion of the church's attitude to homosexuality which billed itself as a forum for Christians and for gay people of any or no faith who wanted to understand more about how Christianity viewed them.

Nothing you have said here relates to what the legislation actually says

You can have events where two protected characteristics are relevant so protected characteristic one is - women only and the other protected characteristic is same sex attracted or attracted to both sexes.

We wouldn't go around saying we have to invite black men to a black women's event, because the protected characteristics are race and women's only, now would we?!

Nowhere in legislation does it say you have to invite all people in both groups if you have two protected characteristics at play.

You have a legitimate aim here based on sex and sexual orientation of women.
