Hi all,

Just flagging this for any lesbian or bi women who’ve felt pushed out of Pride, or like something’s quietly disappeared.

We’re organising a lesbian and bisexual women-only march on Saturday 5th July in central London. It’s the same day as the main Pride event – but we’re not part of their route, and we’re not affiliated.

Time: 11.00 AM
Meeting point: Emmeline Pankhurst Statue, Victoria Tower Gardens South (by Parliament)
Route: Walk to Parliament Square for a few short speeches, then back to the park for a picnic (or a nearby pub if it rains)

No men. No brands. No pressure.
Just women. In public. Without compromise.

It’s fully self-funded. All permits, insurance, stewards and first aid are covered.

RSVP now
Click “Attend” – even if you’re only thinking of coming. It helps us plan and it shows other women that this space is real.
New faces always welcome.
Meetup

If you’re coming alone or feeling nervous, join our entry WhatsApp group – we’ll look after you:
chat.whatsapp.com/FCsLSOzgV4C2yUGplyQr5m
(This is our public group – open to everyone before vetting. The private WhatsApp spaces are strictly filtered. Only verified, registered women are added after screening. To move into those, register and complete sex verification here: thelcommunity.com)

If you want to understand the story behind why this is needed:

They didn’t make space for us. So we did.

You’re proving exactly why we need this march. Lesbians saying no to male inclusion isn’t “phobia” it’s defining same-sex attraction. You’re free to organise whatever protest you want. We’ll still march. I wish you well moving forward.

Surely you mean moving backwards ?

LCommunity · 17/06/2025 09:31

AidaP · 16/06/2025 15:20

So, no trans women?

I'll start arranging the anti transphobia counter protest, thanks for clarification!

My question hasn't been answered. In recent years we have seen several times, including online communities such as now-banned reddit subs for example, so called "lesbian" events that in practice turn out to be nothing to do with being lesbian and are only about anti-trans activism.

If this is the case and it's basically just another KJK thing then it's only fair a counter protest can be present so all views are heard?

Why would you need to protest a lesbian only event?
Also why would men be invited to or involved with a lesbian only event as men cannot be lesbians

LCommunity · 17/06/2025 09:28

AidaP · 16/06/2025 15:15

I'll ask the question more bluntly - are trans women lesbians allowed?

This march is for women who are same-sex attracted: lesbians and bi women. It’s not about identity labels or debates it’s about centring female same-sex experience, which has been increasingly sidelined.

This isn’t about being anti-anyone or discriminating. Other groups have their spaces. This is one small space for lesbians and bi women to gather around same-sex attraction that’s all.

pantaloons based conflagration.

Sometimes a simple image says it better.

I might have misunderstood which bit of the post you were asking about. Positive action in recruitment and promotion is covered under section 159 of the Equality Act 2010. Positive action generally is in section 158.

Ah, thanks, I can see it’s s158. So if the Equality Act applies to this event, the organisers could argue that both cisgender lesbians and cisgender bi women are underrepresented at Pride (as two separate groups with two different protected characteristics) and it is proportionate to organise a separate event just for them. I don’t know if the evidence of underrepresentation is there to support that argument though.

"You won't know until you've tried it" like the 70s, but written in crayon on a repurposed Hello Fresh box

👏 amazing.

Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010, I think.

Part 1 Occupational requirements
General
1(1)A person (A) does not contravene a provision mentioned in sub-paragraph (2) by applying in relation to work a requirement to have a particular protected characteristic, if A shows that, having regard to the nature or context of the work—
(a)it is an occupational requirement,
(b)the application of the requirement is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim, and
(c)the person to whom A applies the requirement does not meet it (or A has reasonable grounds for not being satisfied that the person meets it).
(2)The provisions are—
(a)section 39(1)(a) or (c) or (2)(b) or (c);

In this case 39(1)(a) is being abrogated.

Edited

Thank you. In that case, as the provision is specifically about employers, it isn’t relevant to this event.

I hope the so called heterosexual women who are posting on this thread in desperation to attend are actually men because otherwise it gets even more depressing.

I hope all the attendees have a fabulous time, free of idiots. However the potential amount of sunshine which may occur means you need to take sunscreen!

Exactly. It’s a peaceful women’s march. If anyone turns up to intimidate lesbians for existing, it only proves why we need this space in the first place. We’ll be there calm, visible, and unbothered.

I can see it. The megaphones, taps off, bottles of piss; and a lesbian with the temerity to sit on a tartan blankets saying to her new friends, “I don’t think I salted the cucumber enough in these sandwiches so they are a bit soggy. Apologies.”.

Meanwhile, the “ladies” shout and berate and look like utter fools. Yes they are annihilated. Annihilated with pure cringe.

To be fair, if balaclava-clad men with murderous slogans on placards turn up to shout threats at a load of women who are sitting around enjoying a picnic, it will be yet another nail in the coffin of gender ideology because the optics would be terrible, and the general public have cottoned on now. But it would be very annoying for the women trying to relax and enjoy their picnic, so I do hope TRAs stay the fuck away.

more balanced if some LGBT supporters were there also to peacefully show there is also support for LGBT people. You know, free speech for everyone?

Did you miss that the Pride march is going on? Same day. If you want to show support (rather than harass lesbians) you can march.

Exactly Pride’s happening that day for everyone else. This march is for lesbians and bi women who are same-sex attracted. No one's stopping anyone else from organising their own events that's the whole point of freedom.

TWETMIRF · 17/06/2025 08:55

I hope it goes well for you and that the homophobes stick to the main pride parade where they will be made very welcome.

It's so predictable that the penis people are outraged at the thought of women not wanting a penis to feature in their sex life.

LCommunity · 17/06/2025 08:51

Myalternate · 16/06/2025 14:37

They are gathering for a Pride March…

They’re women that are proud of their womanhood.

They’re done with being ignored..
They’re done with being invisible..
They gathering for truth, space and each other..

No need to explain any further.

Beautifully said. That’s exactly why we’re marching. No more silence. No more erasure. Just women standing up, visible, and proud.

You think "the public" ought to know, eh? So the goons can go along and ruin it, I expect.

That’s always the risk when women organise for themselves. But we’re not hiding. If people want to come and ruin it, it says more about them than us. We’ll keep showing up.

I wish them well with this but would not personally attend because I'm not a lesbian or bisexual. It's not difficult.

Exactly and that’s all it is. A lesbian and bi women’s march. Not for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. Thank you for the respect.

No one needs to hear the not being a lesbian view, but you crack on hassling lesbians if it makes you feel good 🙄 at least you’re open about it now.

This is a lesbian-led march for lesbians and bi women who want same-sex spaces without being told off for it. No one’s hassling anyone, we're simply organising something for ourselves, like everyone else does.

No, it is just an event without men, as lesbians are not welcome if they don't agree to have biological men (of any persuasion) at their events. I am not a lesbian, but I wish them luck and fun at the event :-).

Thank you and yes, it’s exactly that: a lesbian-led march for women who are same-sex attracted. No wider politics, no debates, just lesbian visibility. Everyone can organise their own events for different groups this one is for us.

Is this a gender critical event?

Hi not quite. This is a lesbian-led pride march, specifically for same-sex attracted women. It’s not about being gender critical or political labels. It’s about visibility for lesbians and bi women who want a space centred on same-sex female experience.

Haven't RTFT, but how can you exclude people from a march ?

I can understand how you can make a private space women only. But a procession on a public street ?

This isn’t a “KJK thing” or a protest. It’s not part of any political campaign or activism. This is a same-sex lesbian community women organising for our own visibility, friendship, safety, and public space.
We’re not “anti” anyone. We simply want a march that’s actually for lesbians and bi women, where same-sex attracted women can gather, connect, and be visible. That’s it.

Everyone is entitled to their views. But lesbian women organising lesbian meetups isn’t a debate. It’s simply women taking care of our own.

How can anyone answer your question? The organisers cannot read the minds of all the women on the march can they?

The fact that you think lesbians organising an event could be 'anti trans' tells me a lot about you.

TheOtherRaven · 17/06/2025 08:08

Why then if it's only a stupid tiny group of lesbians who are out of step and not embracing the shagging of men into their homosexuality are you so very bothered about them?

Why can't you leave them to be weird all by themselves? The 'normal' lesbians not being homosexual are all at Pride, you have all of that. But this tiny insignificant stupid group are so very important to you that you can't leave them alone and you're here shaming and bullying and shouting your proud homophobia that women must not be permitted a sexuality that excludes men who want to have sex with them. Because you have to control them and stamp them out and punish them.

So either this group isn't small and insignificant at all and you know it, or you have some very strange control issues over women's bodies. Which is it?

And yes, to refuse to allow women to be homosexual in peace is homophobic . You are attacking and shaming them for a sexuality you're intolerant of. Although they're not trying to control your language, or make you do what they say; all they want you to do is go away and leave them the fuck alone.

100%
