The new “this is what a woman looks like” campaign

So this crap is fine but Posie Parker couldn't have a billboard that simply said a Woman is an adult human female.

Oh FFS 🤦‍♀️ it’s the Uber-handmaidens. I mean how many times did that pledge to protect trans and NB people pop up? And nowhere was there a pledge to protect actual women. Clearly not interesting enough to protect.

It's never going to go away is it ..I thought the recent court ruling would be the end of such nonsense..but clearly not .

Trans women are not the same / do not experience the same issues as the women listed. It must be so annoying for women of colour, women with a disability for example to be in the same bracket (because they’ve faced discrimination). It takes away from women’s experiences. Nothing against trans, as such, just be what you are. Which is not a woman…

De Grunwald attended the recent Stonewall conference. (The same one Maya Forstater went to) And she had a fascinating talk on the surreal experience. One of the many odd things was they had no sessions that discussed the SC ruling. Zero. And not only that, they wouldn’t even address it directly. It was the ‘thing that must not be named’, alluded to but hovering in the background. She went on to say:

“I didn't really feel anybody had mentioned the word trans or non-binary at any point. It was LGBT, and even that wasn't really discussed. What there was, instead, was an awful lot of emphasis on race. And I think there was a lot of conflating racial prejudice with LGBT discrimination. “

Levi Pay (who worked for Stonewall in the 90s also had an interesting observation on how the nature of the advocacy change), the other person in the conversation remarked:

“The race thing is interesting. I'm seeing a lot of it on LinkedIn and elsewhere – the practice of using of other issues to further promote trans equality. So it's the kind of: segregation is wrong. And so, in the context of sex it's also wrong to stop men going into women and girls' changing rooms. It's a kind of logical leap in the hope that the vibe around segregation in a race context is so strong that it will carry the argument across. And that's not just a race thing, we hear intersex people being used. We hear the about butch women who are being harassed as a result of the backlash, and there's always this kind of using of other people who aren't the people we're talking about in order to somehow win this argument. “

That's really the parasitism of the TR movement in a nutshell. The billboard is a visual exemplar of it in all its manipulative glory.

Not (technically) selling anything, so I'm not sure trades descriptions is relevant. But I do wonder whether there's anything in the ASA regs that might apply.

I notice they're all smiling to some extent, as all nice, well-behaved women do.

I do hope it's a properly organised photo shoot and they all gave permission to be in it and for it to be used in this way. I had a sudden thought when I saw it 'what would it be like to see myself photoshopped into such a thing?' (Photoshopping is probably superceded by now, but ykwim).

Why are they wasting money on this shit?

It’s a slice of life I don’t see around my part of the world very often. It doesn’t reflect the average person I see in Tesco anyway.

I just wonder what the poster for the men’s campaign would be. It would be more useful for the trans women afraid of using men’s spaces if there was a campaign to normalise gender expression diversity of men so normal men would be educated into not being so scary. Then the trans women could use the correct toilets/changing room etc without uneducated men being so shocked.

I presume this is being updated to reflect both the Supreme Court clarification and reality?

I assume this is some sort of reaction to the court ruling.

They seem to think that all they need is some absurdly patronising awareness campaign and everything will be alright.for them
