Are toilets still allowed to be cleaned by members of the opposite sex?

Not if, as happened to me recently, the male cleaner wasn't there when I went into the cubicle but WAS there when I came out.

With no indication, other than a permanent sign on the door indicating that men might clean the toilets.

Come to think of it, even a proper temporary 'man in here RIGHT NOW' sign wouldn't work if there were already women in the toilets, within the cubicles, when it was placed.

I know it's not really the point of this thread, but in busy public toilets would it really be so hard to have male cleaners for the men's toilets and female cleaners for the women's toilets?

and you don't get to consent for other women. You can welcome all the men you like into your own private same sex space.

If there isnt a sign, go complain, there should be one.

Cleaning a toilet is not the same as using a toilet, so the SC ruling doesn't apply.

But very often there ISN'T a sign. Just a permanent one warning of the possibility of an opposite sex cleaner.

I was in the ladies' toilets at the Arndale Centre Food Court (Manchester) a few weeks ago. Male cleaner was in there popping in and out of every cubicle in turn, mopping. I'm sure he was just doing his job and I didn't feel unsafe, but it very briefly made me feel uncomfortable. Because his presence really hadn't been clearly communicated before myself and teenage DD went in. On checking, as we left, there was just the generic, permanent 'these facilities may be cleaned by staff of any gender' type of sign.

I don't mind a male cleaner in the women's, although in large facilities e.g. shopping centres with multiple cleaners I would prefer them to allocate female cleaners to the women's and male cleaners to the men's. I would hate to be sent into the men's to clean myself, as a woman.

But there really DOES need to be proper warning that there is a man in there RIGHT NOW. Before you go in. And that increasingly isn't the case, ever since the TRAs got the world thinking that keeping single sex spaces, you know, SINGLE SEX wasn't actually important anymore.

There's a sign up, letting you know that there'll be a cleaner there. If you're happy with that, go in. If you aren't you can wait or go elsewhere.

So- you think that a woman who is running out of a cubicle with her hands covered in period blood and doesn’t want to encounter a man (a scenario frequently used on this site to explain why trans women shouldn’t allowed in women’s spaces) will be okay with it if it’s a cleaner?

Women are ok with male cleaners doing their job in their loos as they put a sign outside to warn women that they are there. They are there with the permission of the service provider and women have a choice whether to enter, or wait until they're finished.
Males pretending to be female do not have any permission or consent to be in women's spaces. They are breaking the law. They are pushing women's boundaries.
There is a clear difference.

And my second question. Human beings cannot change sex. There is no such thing as 'transitioning' into the opposite sex. So why should women welcome men who have (possibly) had extreme cosmetic surgery, take wrong sex hormones and wear stereotypically female clothing into single sex space? Essentially because the men's feelings would be hurt?

Why are men's feelings more important than women's safety and dignity?

I was at the hospital the other day desperate for a quick pee before my imminent appointment. The nearest toilet was being cleaned by a gentleman I asked him if I could possibly pop in ..he said it was okay. He continued mopping and I peed. No issue on either side. Male cleaners have always cleaned toilets doubt they're doing it for any sort of fetish.
