And sometimes, when I am at work, dolefully looking at my dire packed lunch (which seemed like a good idea at the time) or rifling through my bag in a desperate search for anything sweet but finding only an elderly and squished Murray Mint, I think longingly of a strong hot coffee in a china cup and a slice of really good cherry cake off the (non existent) tea trolley.

(I might need to go and have a rummage for my copy of 'Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer' this afternoon)

I don't remember her taking many, if any cases to court since the big privacy case in 2008 involving paparazzi photos of her son. Which has been pretty influential in case law around privacy.

But there have been quite a few cases of online personalities defaming her, and then issuing a grovelling apology a few days later, sometimes accompanied by a donation to charity. I think we can assume there was a legal letter involved.

So she's got very good lawyers, and a good strategic sense of when it's time to bring the hammer down.

I wonder if her imagination extends to the office?

The thing is that Mr Nobody ranting on Twitter/X/BlueSky that "JKR is a transphobic bitch" isn't really worth bothering about. It doesn't really damage her reputation.

Does JKR bother sueing the idiots defaming her? So far she seems to have laughed at them, sat back and let them get on with digging themselves into holes showcasing their own idiocy and repellent ideology.

In my head I see serried ranks of well fed, well paid Rowling employees licking their pencils and jotting stuff down in notebooks. Occasionally chewing the ends and thumbing through vast tomes of legal precedent.

(All in the 1940s, of course. And a very pleasant tea lady, in an apron, ambling up and down the rows asking if they want one lump or two, and this week it's cherry cake.)

So's mine and the response was rage worthy. All about how much confusion and upset the judgment has led to and how it's now time for a sensible conversation. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I wrote to my MP a couple of days ago via the Sex Matters site and am interested to see what, if any, response I get. He's a Lib Dem so I'm prepared for anything.

If you visit the Sex Matters website they have a template and have requested as many of us as possible send emails to our MP. You might need to subscribe, I’m not sure. I emailed my MP, Tulip Siddiq and, as well as asking her to support enforcement of the law, especially at the HoP, I asked her to address the situation at the Hampstead Ponds as @zenas enquired about. Plus I mentioned that as a woman and a mother, she must understand the issues and threats to women’s rights. I have had ok responses from her in the past, let’s see what happens this time. Sadly, when the boundaries got redrawn, my MP changed, it was Keir Starmer before, I would have been on his back 😹

Every time I think I can’t love JKR any more than I already do, she does something else so absolutely epic that I’m prostrate with gratitude yet again. What a woman. There will never be enough words to thank her adequately for how she is the shield and the sword protecting our sex-based rights in the face of an unrelenting onslaught of misogyny, violence and oppression.

The fact that so many men’s rights activists are incandescent with rage, and desperate in the face of the dawning realisation that they have been outmanoeuvred by someone so superior in intellect, integrity and resources, is just the delicious icing on the cake.

While not denying the validity of cases taken by men, it says something that a thread about a woman setting up

'A legal fighting fund for women protecting their sex-based rights'

only gets as far as page 4 before 'but what about the men?' appears!

Three blissful pages where women could have something that was explicitly for women..🙄

No doubt thought women shouldn't have brought the equal pay claim against Glasgow City Council either, rather than GCC perhaps shouldn't have implemented discriminatory grading.

They seem to be showing themselves up more and more on this kind of thing and few women on 'their' side are picking them up on very basic principles.
