JK Rowling - Women’s Fund

She's down to her last £945 million. She would be a billionaire but she gives so much of her money funding her charitable works for women and children (and no dodgy tax evasion) that she dropped under that threshold. She is pretty intelligent and I'm sure that she will stop funding things if they are no longer sustainable, but I think she'll be OK for a while yet. I don't think she spends too much of it on women, wine and snuff (she's a whisky drinker).

This will enable the legal rights of girls and women to be upheld through the courts without there being a massive financial risk to anyone challenging illegal behaviour. It’s fantastic.

I was trying to work out how much I’ve spent on crowdfunders over the last few years and the result startled me. It’s a good thing I’m still working part time, as my pension wouldn’t cover it.

The fact she is directly taking pressure off ordinary women who have so far crowdfunded EVERYTHING will of course pass the leftie bros by 🙃

This action directly benefits the girls in the school too though. It would also benefit all school girls in the UK.

I think this is what makes her so dangerous to the TRA and why they do their best to bring her down

If she says that she will do something she actually follows through with it. It isn't just words on twitter. She is too rich, famous and powerful for them to threaten and gag her. She can literally tell them to bring it on.

We are so lucky to have her on our side. She is an actual shero

I've been thinking.

What were the chances of a female author of children's books being creative and savvy enough to become a world famous billionaire?

Then being so smart as to be able to turn her hand to the kind of business making that most people can only dream of, thereby creating an unprecedented, global uber industry all on the back of her own invention.

Whilst simultaneously being sagely politically minded and a bloody raging feminist, who totally gets it.

And then determinedly joining the figure heads of one of the most important campaigns women have ever had to wage.

And THEN bloody offering to finance it!

What on earth were the chances??

Female, creative, smart, rich, philanthropic, and totally on our side!

I'd say it was like it was written in the stars, except it wasn't.

This is truly incredible. I work for a local authority and their policy for spaces such as toilets, changing rooms is that employees use the space that best fits their gender identity. I’ve remained quiet because I need my job.

Just to put this in context, JKR is worth £975M. Even if she didn't do anything (like say, publish a bestselling book every year or have a major TV series in the works or get royalties from a billion dollar franchise) she would still be getting richer by £50M+ a year just on it sitting in the bank. She could put that £50M behind a legal fund and not even have to change her energy supplier or look into getting a smaller yacht.

This is major (I'm not saying she has to put that much money into the fund).

I would also suggest that if the TRAs are so concerned about this, maybe they should be writing to Pedro Pascal or the Harry Potter stars (Dan Radcliffe is worth £100M) and see if they can put their money where their mouth is.
